Thanks for assuming I am a bit of a dolt who wants to hurt myself -- just for your info it is a BPS with a three inch chambered hastings barrel (rifled - not choked) firing 2 3/4 slugs. If you have ever actually seen a three inch shell fired in a 2 3/4 chamber you will immediately know that something is not right. There is no slug on the market now that will not pass through a full choke in any modern barrel (product liability took care of that) There is a third possibility -- that springs to mind -- when you take a projectile of reasonably heavy weight (7/8 of an ounce)and you launch it down a barrel at speeds of 1800fps it generates a lot of recoil -- the heavier the projectile and the faster you launch it, the more recoil it generates --The weight of the device you launch it from must also be taken into account -- the heavier it is the more recoil is absorbed -- course that relationship is part of rocket science so I appreciate that you may have overlooked that possibility
