3 point hitch on GC2300/GC2310 won't go down - any ideas?

I have a GC2310 that is stored outside.
This summer it hasn't seen much use.

I just got it running this past weekend (after replacing the ignition switch) so I could use it to move a bunch of stuff before everything gets covered in snow.

When I use the control to lift the 3 point hitch, it goes up.
When I use the control to drop the 3 point hitch, nothing happens. It doesn't matter how much weight I put on it, it stays up.

I discovered this problem after dark, when I went to put a carryall on the back of the tractor, and I was pressed for time, so I didn't get a good look at the linkages. (And I live in the city where I work during the week, so I'm not able to check out the tractor during the week.)

Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas?

If the arms are properly hooked up so they don't bind, and the linkage on the 3pt control lever is properly connected, the 3 pt. down function is is controlled by only the drop speed knob below the seat, and gravity.

I don't know what else it could be.

Ray did not mention that if that knob is turned all the way clockwise it will not come down. It locks it in the up position. You might try messing with that knob opening it up al of the way. Could maybe be a small obstruction there.

people often accidentally move that knob with their feet getting on and off the tractor. Don't ask me how I know.

Well me getting old and senile, I have locked mine and forgot what I did haha. You get some good rain over there this morning? Tomorrow is suppose to be lots of it.

That's what I'm hoping has happened. But I won't be able to check until this weekend.
