If you’re speaking about for a backhoe, a subframe is much more desirable for use on a compact tractor.

Good question....
Personally, I find the 3pt useful in manipulating the boxblade, brush hog and phd. Also for the carryall, plow and just about anything else that hooks up to the back of my tractor. The ones I have all are 3pt attachments and did not come with subframes.
Although I have never seen subframes for these items, I could be wrong...I would think a sub frame for most of them would seem unhandy and even prohibit/limit the movement and/or usefulness of some.
I have a backhoe that came with the 3pt attachment, although I think a subframe would be better in that case.
As for the others, I'll stick with the 3pt...(just my opinion)
