3 point lift capacity with boom pole

I found a used engine puller (cherry picker to some). Made a bottom plate to fit the lift bars and a bracket to hook up the top link. It works like a charm!!! You have the tractor lift along with the picker lift (that changes the lift point==pivot point of lift). It can be shortened for heavy loads or lengthened for lighter things. I've raised things over the side of a pickup bed with mine.

Here's a store bought receiver hitch style. There is a leg directly under the vertical part that must be put down on the ground if picking up any significant load.
I use it to unload the pickup occasionally.
I have it mounted on a Titan 3point receiver hitch attachment here.

I am looking at these two -

CountyLine Boom Pole - For Life Out Here

CountyLine Heavy-Duty Boom Pole - For Life Out Here

What sparked my question was the front loop capacity; on the smaller boom ,it is only 500lbs. That did not seem like much, given the tractor capacity
is listed as 1400 lbs 24 inches behind the hitch.

I understand a bit more now (thanks LD1)- 500lbs on the front loop, with the 3pt at it's highest lift, on the 'right' top link hole, my be at or near the tractor capacity.

I am still leaning toward the heavy duty pole, simply from a stability and durability standpoint. It is twice as heavy as the small boom though - and twice the cost. Hmmm.

What do you plan on lifting?

In reality, the lighter one would probably be just fine. I am sure there is a nice safety factor built in as well. We have one of them lighter ones. Used it on the back of an international 444 to lift an entire loader/bucket onto the trailer when purchasing. Guessing 1000#+.

THe heavy one sure looks nice though, and has a third toplink hole as opposed to two to further taylor the lift height/capacity

That's the kind of question my bride asks, and I have to think quick to come up with a good answer.
We just bought a farm that has 3 generations of 'stuff' laying around. I need to clear then start setting up for us.

But really - I just want more toys for my tractor.

There's nothing wrong with that!! I had 2 boom poles - only used the larger one, one time. Do you not have a Front End Loader??? I found it easier to use the FEL instead of the boom pole.

I got rid of both of them, gave them away to friends, one that didn't have a FEL and the other had a small limited size FEL. If you don't have a FEL, if you try to lift too much, you'll most likely only lift the front of your tractor :D
