3 Point operation on a new GC1705

I read much of the same stuff and ended up getting the harbor freight QH using a 20% off coupon ($79.99 out the door) and then I bought a new top hook ($45.01 thank you amazon) that addressed the hangup issue. All told I dropped $125 for a perfectly functioning setup.

Yeah... And my QH was $99 if I remember correctly (purchase almost two years ago), but prices have gone up since....

Thanks, I like DL Meisen's idea that will help me at least get the cut fairly even. as it is every time I raised the 3pt and dropped it back down i was cutting at a different height. I know it will never look like it was cut with a MM mower but if I keep the blades sharp it should look OK.

Which rotary cutter did you buy?

You can get a rear (3PH) "finish" mower that will terrain follow if you want even cut... Yes it has "wheels"...

I'm a newbie so if this is a dumb question please be easy on me. I am used to the 3 point lift control on older tractors being set at a certain point with stops. So How do you always attain the same depth setting on the new tractors? It is like an on/off switch it goes down till you let off the control. I purchased a rotary cutter instead of the mid mount mower and if I lift it to make a sharp turn it is impossible to get it set to the same depth.

Welcome to TBN,

You could attach two 6" diameter adjustable (vertical) swivel wheels on the front of your rotary cutter at each corner that would give you a repeatable cutting height when the 3 point hitch is lowered.

If your cutting area is rough like mine, then 8" wheels might be a better choice.

What size is it? 4'? 5'? We have a Lowery dealer about 25 minutes away... I'm familiar with them.
