3 pt hitch bent

"Not sure what kind of assembly you're referencing for the 2000, as it comes from the factory as a 3 point hitch.'

The YM240 parts manual lists such an assembly as an option. A year, or so, ago the LH lower lift arm pin backed out of my diff housing, damaging the threads. I was able to repair to my satisfaction, meanwhile, I emailed Aaron about that option, which he had in stock for a reasonable price.

It's hard to tel scale.. but it looks as if the arms ar ont he ends o fthe rods, then large spacers for the check chains, and then the support for the rod. I'd guess that if that was a 12" long rod.. the supports are at least 4" from each end.. that would make for huge side loads..

Very poor design.. The engineer must have been sick that day, and the guy that delivers the rice cakes to the plant must have stepped in and drew that design for them... and he -didn't- stay at a holiday in express last night either /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That bracket needs some end support and stabilization BADLY.. I'm a CE.. not a ME.. and even i can see that....

Here's an equally bad rear pic of my yanmar showing how the 1700 arms are on the diffy housing.. etc..

Another YM2000 photo to show what the 3 point arms are attached to.

Norm, if I understand you correctly the HD option is a bar that screws into the diff housing replacing that pin, with its other end in the sway chain mount. ?

Nonstandard stuff in my photo that may confuse things further: that flat bar below the pin is the loader subframe. Its welded to a tab that bolts under the differential.

I don't have my manual handy now, but that sounds like it. It has all necessary parts and spacers for a good solid connection. I would get some 90wt on those lower pins before you have the same problem I did. Mine galled from lack of lube, then began to back out.

Thanks for all the comments. The bar is about 18" long. I called it a drawbar cause I couldn't think of a better name. The links attach at the ends with the sway spacers between them and the center. Soundguy, I'm a EE, also not an ME, but I agree it looks to make for enormous loads on the bar whenever the mower deck is raised. I think that is what is bending it -- driving over bumps with the deck up. I could put the links closer to the center, but then I don't have a place to put the sway chains. A friend has a New Holland with a similar drawbar mount, but his sway braces attach to flanges on the axle ends. I'm going to talk with the dealer, but I figured I'd ask you guys, too. More info is almost always better. I've got better pictures, I was preserving bandwidth, maybe too much so. I ran across somebody's picture on this site that showed link pins bolted to the sides of the hitch bracket being used as a drawbar. Was that any of yours? Did it work out well?

Leon

My 1602D is different. I don't have a pic handy, but I will try to explain. I have the same part attached to the bottom of the tractor that also holds the actual draw bar. I don't have the bar you bent or the nice attachment points for the sway chains. I had some crappy pins and replaced them with implement pins (like the ones on a box blade that the other end of the lower links attach to). I also welded a plate to stop the U-shaped bracket from bending. I also had to find a spot to get my chains mounted, so I used the bottom of the mount bracket.

I attached a sketch to hopefully explain and will get a picture when I get a chance.

Cheers,
rob

The long pins one wouldn't be mine.. but I believe somebody here did that.

No problem with calling it a drawbar.. we all eventually fell in and got on board /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

And yep.. that's what the forum is about getting lots of opinions.

Good luck on the fix. I don't think i would reloctate the chains just to move the lift arms closer to the support.. but would rather make it so that the end of the bar had some end support.. thru an extra bracket or sleave.. or -something-... perhaps utilizing the under axle brackets.. etc.

Can't wait to see the pics of how you fix it!!

rob,

It looks like your method reducesw the force on the pins, but I don't quite ge the sway chain mount. It seem like you setup would have the sway chains get tighter as you raised the implement and looser as you lowered it.

All,
Here' a better picture of my bent setup. I took the bar to the shop last night and straightened it with the hydraulic press. Tonight after work I'll take another look at the tractor in light of everyone's comments.

Leon

I have a tractor with the exact setup as yours but I put the chain mount on the outside of the arms. Hitting something with the implement just turns the tractor but does not bend the bar.
