3 pt hitch bent

I built the new sway chain pivots and got the mower re-installed. It seems to work okay so far. Time will tell. The lift arms stay very close to the support brackets, so that will reduce the bending stress on the round bar. I've attached a picture of what I hope is the final configuration. Thanks for all the help in thinking this out.

That looks great, good job. My only question is with the sway chains almost at the same angle as the lift arms, do they hold the lift arms in OK? Seems like they would work better crossed, because the angle would be sharper.....

I couldn't see how I could grind enough off my lift arms for them to fit close to the center. I decided to try to build some supports for the end of the arm as someone suggested earlier. I haven't mounted the sway chains yet, but here's a picture

Did you have to grind the axle trumpets any to add the supports?

Now all you need is to cut 2 more pieces of that pipe that the rod passes thru, and then add 2 washers to eich piece.. and use them as spacers betwixt the lift arm and the lynch pin.. keep those ars close tot he support rathern than moving out to the end.

The chains seem to be working ok. I think you're right -- a larger angle would work better.

I looked at a friend's Kubota 7100 the other day and discovered this setup is almost exactly what he has.

The axle trumpets already had flats ground in to support the brackets. I suspect there is a factory heavy duty setup that uses them.

I'm thinking of drilling another hole in the rod so I can move the linch pins closer in and limit the outward travel of the arms. I'd have to get a different style pin -- one that has a retainer on the side.

Just use a couple large washers and a spacer.. made from the same pipe the pin slides thru... should work fine... Way easier than drilling that rod for a hairpin or something else..
