3 Way 2 inch receiver

On most of the hitches that I have seen, the gussets are 1/4 in for a 300 to 500 lbs load, but I thought that if you were to try and lift the maximum weight of 800 lbs with the receiver, then a stronger gusset might be appropriate. Just use what you have or double up.

I added the gussets today using 1/4 inch steel. I think with the middle receiver supported and welded to the top and bottom receviers and then adding two gussets it should be strong enough. It certainly is stronger (assuming my welds are OK) than the PT version. I have attached a photo.

J_J, thanks for your advice on this and other areas.

Going back to my "Meet Kermit" thread, it looks like you've combined the best of the ones PJ and I have built. I've found lots of uses for mine. I've since decided that a pair of sideways receivers to the right and left will also be useful, mostly for ditch and bank implements. Maybe one of these days I'll actually weld them on... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I remember seeing your posting now. I probably stole from your's too. Thanks for the ideas.

What side implements have you condsidered? I keep modifying this thing, and I am going through a lot of paint.

Take care,

That does look stronger. Did you say what the top receiver was far, other than storage. You might be able to adapt a ripper shank like this for the bottom.

The top receiver is for the passenger seat so his wife can ride with him when they go down to the neighbors' house.

That should work just fine.

J_J, I don't have a specific plan for the top receiver. A boom pole comes to mind, but I have the minihoe and that does a pretty good job as a boom. I do need a ripper for the bottom.

Clint, kinda dangerous riding on front. I would like a second seat sometimes, but we need a way to make it safe. I know you were just kidding, but maybe there is a way to make it safe.
Clint, please bring in a quick attach plate on Monday and any pieces of steel you can find. I want to work on putting the 12 inch bucket on a quick attach plate. I think it needs to be dropped below the quick attach plate, since it is narrower than the quick attach plate.

Bob,

First, to give credit where it's due, I need to correct a mistake in abbreviation-when I wrote PJ, I meant Pequeajim, not Pajoube.

For side mount implements, I've got in mind a bank mower that owes more to a string trimmer than a lawnmower. PT's boom/bank mower wouldn't work real well on my rocky terrain. It would probably be a tossup between the damage to the mower from the rocks, and the damage to everything in the vicinity from the shrapnel.

I've also thought of a sprayer attachment, and an offset ditch scraper.

I could really use the side mounts right now to provide supports for the duct pipe sticking out about 4 or 5 feet sideways from the big ugly leaf blower that's been my latest project. (I'll try to post photos before too long. It works pretty well, but it's not exactly a tour-de-force of elegant engineering). /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
