One of its main chores will be mowing (5' brush hog and 6' finish mower). Will the filled tires still be good or will the extra weight cause more ruts?

Thanks

That size of tractor, no shouldn't make a difference on a dry lawn. If its wet that's a different story, but I have a light area in my lawn that my 600lb lawn mower left ruts in last week. I see more good than bad with filling them.

You list R4's on the purchase. Should be fine. Just depends on how
pristine you like your lawn. My lawn is grass and I mow it. A few
ruts don't matter to me. They usually spring back after awhile anyway.
Enjoy.

I do some finish mowing with a 3038e w/ filled R4's. At least around here (piedmont NC) ruts are generally only an issue if the ground is soft from recent rain. In normal conditions, you'd have to turn real sharp to tear up the ground & that with the front wheels rather than rear. That's not to say you can't leave a mark by spinning a tire on an incline or gouging a rise with a too low bucket...
(ask me how I know )

Thanks for the extra info. I will ask about the rimguard. If I had to pay for it, what would be a fair price for the rears?

As far as a pristine lawn, I agree; it is just grass and as long as it isn't tall, I'm fine. It doesn't need to look like a fairway.

Are you still happy with your choice of the 3038? Any things you really like/dislike about it? After the test drive, I don't see any reason why it won't be a good fit for me.

Thanks again

I've been really pretty happy with the 3038e, it definitely gave me my best "bang for the buck" at the price point I was comfortable with. I do regret not having bundled in the extra remotes as part of the initial package. It will be a while before I can swing that now as new implements have been taking priority over added convenience (see the signature list).

You should probably be aware that the 305 loader can have a bit more "leak down" compared to other models. I ran across this comparison of permitted movement by the different models & the 305 has a bit more than most of the rest. I was checking because I had noted the bucket bouncing when traversing rough ground if I didn't curl it back up every so often. Not a critical issue, but at first I didn't know if it was normal or a potential problem. Now I am accustomed to periodically nudging the curl to keep it tight while mowing rough areas.

The size has been just right for our applications which mix both open field and wooded areas, and I've never felt under powered with any attachment use. Engine, HST and PTO have all been completely reliable to date (180 hours so far).

One thing I'd recommend as an aftermarket add on would be something like the Pat's Quick Hitch or the Carter & Sons EZ-Hitch. Makes hooking up 3 point equipment a whole lot easier - especially if you don't have things setting on a nice flat concrete pad and are working alone.

Thanks for all the input and experience.

Plan on going tomorrow to sign paperwork. I got him down to $16500 delivered.

If all goes well, it should be delivered Saturday, 4/14 (they have to order the cruise).

I bought it today!

They had to order the cruise control, but it should be delivered next weekend or the first part of the following week.

Congrats! They are a good tractor, there was a 3038E on my dealers lot the other day and was very nice, no loader though.

Did you get any fluid in the tires?

Congrats on the purchase! Just bought a 3038e couple weeks ago, love it so far! Enjoy the new ride chief! Ruts haven't been an issue! Like it was said before, your front will dig in a bit if ya turn a bit sharp!
