That's right...but I'm not overiding a system by modification, just simulating the operator's weight on the seat. You can't forget to remove that sandbag. You surely can forget to plug that switch back in...

Anyway, I post these since folks (newbies, especially) will do someting that may not be thought through (like undoing what ya done, after you're done...)
It's a real shame Deere even sold tractors that don't have off seat PTO capability without having to work around it. It's also a shame some guys buy tractors with out doing their homework (like reading the Deere online manuals)...but they do. These are normally North Eastern or California college educated caucasion professionals, BTW. Most southern knuckle draggin, inbred, moonshine swillin' rednecks have some experience with equipment by the time they are 7 or 8. And they also have plenty of sandbags lying around...especially them on the Mississippi.
But, at least we can educate them (meaning the North Eastern or California college educated caucasion professionals)...to a degree. And offer them a non-permanent work around...knowing they've got to remove that sand bag sooner or later (so the safety switch is still ready and active, rather then disabling a safety device that will likely go from a temporary fix to permanent status).

When are we as a Nation going to tell the Government/Lawyers ENOUGH?!?!? We're letting them force manufacturers to make equipment we buy with our hard-earned money darn-near unusable in some respects.

We'uns what grew up operating old tractors and other equipment that had NO "safety" features whatsoever, back when the Country was Free, never even THOUGHT that these new fangled shiny contraptions would have internal PTO brakes...... PTOs that won't work unless your lard arse in sitting in yonder seat...... etc...

I too think it's a shame Deere doesn't offer the off seat pto.

Considering that most dealers offer attachments such as a log-splitter or chipper...I wouldn't want to be the salesman that has to look the customer in the eye, after he just sold the tractor, and says....oh, you can't operate that chipper with the tractor I just sold you.

So Deere offers the Off-Seat PTO Option (add some cost) and then makes the Drawbar standard (add some cost) then lets put a fuel gauge in the instrument panel (add some cost) don't forget about the Mid PTO (add some cost) and why not add Cruise Control (add some cost) just for the heck of it!

So now what do we have? Something 1/2 way between a 3E Series and a 3x20 Series - and not priced well to boot!

Deere did a TON of customer research on this tractor - both with Deere owners and more importantly with competitive equipment owners... The 3E Series is supposed to be a basic, lower cost unit - made primarily for customers that do loader work and use basic 3 pt hitch attachments.

As a salesman, I would never have to "look my customer in the eye and tell him that the chipper I just sold him would not work with the tractor I just sold him" because those issues would have been figured out way before the deal was at it's final stages.

I hate to interrupt someone on a roll but it would have been even CHEAPER had they NOT put the darned "safety" switch under the dadgum seat and cheaper STILL had they not put that cursed PTO brake on the friggin thing.
