3038e PTO noise

I have done a search but yielded no satisfying results thus far. As an owner of a new 3038e I can tell you I could not be happier. One little thing though has been weighing on my mind and thought I would ask around.

At idle RPMs, my PTO, when engaged, makes a pretty loud (unsettling) rattling noise. This is much more noticeable when there is no implement attached. I can remedy the situation by bumping up the RPM's by 100-200 and it is as quiet as can be.

Can any of you 3038e/3032e owners maybe try out your PTO at the lowest RPM and see if you hear anything. Again it does go away with the slightest increase of RPM's. Every other tractor I have owned has had silent PTO engagements and this just concerns me being that it is brand new.

I tried my 3032E (120hrs) like you ask. At 950 rpm, I could hear the PTO running, but not particularly loud or unsettling, just the sound of something running. When I bumped up the RPMs a little I couldn't hear it any more for the noise from the engine. My impression was that the PTO noise probably was still there, just covered over. .YMMV.

Funny. I just bought a 3032 and it does the same thing. I'll ask the dealer about it. I don't actually get it for another week. Tried it on the lot.

It is normal for the pto to rattle when at an idle and no load on this model unit. It should go away when you connect an implement (load the pto) and or raising the engine rpm.

I have also seen the 1026 and 1023 do the same thing. Hope this help put your mind at ease.

Yep. My R rattles with no load but is quiet while running an implement. The 3038e is still a great tractor though. Every time I'm back at a dealership I take the time to climb up on one and get the sales staff fired up.
