30HP or 35HP?

When I was tractor shopping my local Kubota/New holland/Case dealer wouldn't even show me a New Holland. Steered me directly to the Kubota line. I guess I thought this was kind of strange because I was trying to compare all brands that were close enough to consider. I didn't end up buying either and am extremely happy with the tractor I did buy, but I am still confused by that salesman. Trying to sell the more expensive tractor I guess.

My guess would be that he was trying to get you to buy the one that made him the most $$$$. Back when I was looking for a tractor and I went to the Kubota-New Holland dealership I was told that I didn't really want a New Holland (that was what I had asked about) that what I wanted was a Kubota. The guy would not even look at a NH with me. I ended up leaving.

I'm guessing that buying a tractor today would be pretty similar to purchasing a car or truck. Find one you like the feel and can live with the color and get it. Your horse power question is like asking do I need a 1/2 or 3/4 ton pickup. There are some tractors that you might steer clear of (what tractor is comparative to a Yugo). But if you stick with some of the bigger brands you can't go wrong. Remember there lemon in anything manufactured.

$84 pickup and delivery is a pretty good deal I think. I payed over $100 a few years back for a 60 mile round trip. Then again the guy picking up the tractor got the truck stuck in my yard before even loading the tractor. He had to call a wrecker to pull him out. And "I" had to pay for his mistake. I ended up using my truck and pulling the tractor to the end of the driveway.

Yes feel and color and all that,but getting your moneys worth is very good also,kioti is 2-3 thousand cheaper than some brands,but not any less tractor,mahindra maybe also,as maybe couple others. So look and feel is one thing,2-3,000 dollars left over is quite another. Some tractors can't sell the name for an extra 3 grand.

Remember you never cuss yourself for not getting that extra 5 hp when your tooling around cutting grass. its when your JUST at the edge of pulling the disc or 2x14 plow, or 6' box blade that you wished you had gone for the extra 5hp. or 14% more power.

Considering the size of the implements you listed, the ck30 may not
be the best choice. At 23 hp at the pto, I would consider it marginal.
Go for for more horses, you will never regret it.

Yeah thats what my book says,but can tell you from using it,5ft hog with dull blades on 3ft tall heavy grass,no problem,didn't lug a bit,and think I was using 3rd and 4th gears low range,and a 5ft kk tiller,no problem,power to spare.

It also says 35 has 27.6 at pto,but I bet ya that would work fine with a 6 ft hog on heavy tall grass.

So,no problems using 5ft hog and tiller on ck30. Numbers are one thing,actually using it is another.
