3320 jd tractor

Got my 3320 back home yesterday. I have run it about 8 hours without a cut off. JD replaced every thing about the fuel system. New fuel lines,filters,shut off solenoid, and a new fuel pump. So far so good. I have it on trial and catching up on jobs needing to be done. I plan on using every day this week all day.

This is truly a fine machine and I hope it is fixed. Thanks for all your comments.

Speaking for all of us 3320 owners.....I'm glad JD stepped-up for you and (apparently) fixed the problems you were having. One of the reasons to buy a good brand IMO. Great news....GOOD LUCK!!! :thumbsup: Keep us posted!

you should be able to tell if the engine runs out of fuel, or if it shuts down hard, like from the key switch. If it shuts down hard, you may have a bad fuel solenoid, which is easily changed. when you key on, you should hear a sharp CLICK when the fuel turns on. If it's kind of a muffled noise, or if you ever have to key on several times to get the CLICK then almost certainly the solenoid is bad. Diesels that run lean on fuel usually run weak for a few seconds and then die.

mddozier I hope this dealership wasnt near me ,what part of the country are you in? How many times did it take them to verify your complaint as that is one of the first steps in diagnosing . would love to know what the problem realy was. glad they finaly fixed it for you. Also the fuel solenod linkage is all internal so visualy checking is not an option.

This same shut off problem happened to my son and I last week while clearing brush with his JD 3320E. The tractor ran ;for a few feet and then stopped. It would start right up again but only run less than a minute or two before shutting off again.
Since the property was extremely dry and dusty I thought about cleaning the air filter as the possible problem (actually got a real bad burn from the muffler doing this). Once this was done the tractor started but shut off again. Igt was then that I noticed that the fuel turn off lever on the fuel pump was almost turned to the off position and the fuel bulb was totally distended and almost totally distorted. (Iguess from pressure built up over time used)
Unless we had a one in a million hit from a pranch or something that pushed the lever to the off position, it must have been the vibration from using the tractor all day.
This has never happened before and didn't happen after we fully turned on the fuel supply.
I hope we don't have your problem and length of down time.
