Looks like a fun project. You got any pictures of what you've done so far to it?

I have a great sense of awareness about rebuilds as I have been involved in many. There is a reason it was not fixed by the owner, ins. co or dealer...... cost. Deals look great til the final tally and when its complete or you think it is the nagging hidden costs start to surface. Then you try to sell or trade it without disclosing the damage and the paper trail is checked one could be in court and save some more money.
I'm not envious in the least. Projects are good for the economy. There are no free lunches and very few good financial deals out there.
You keep the rolled and damaged ( minor repairs and some assembly required ) , I like the new. Matter of fact I just waxed my two non rebuilt four wheel drive tractors yesterday.
Little touchy on the price... aren't we ? Have a great day and keep buying those parts. Every day will be a surprise. At least you will be able to say " you built it ! "

There's more to it than that Joe,
Ins. companies and dealers have overhead. A dealer can estimate the cost of repairs but he has to figure his employee who fixes it and that repair can't be based on used parts. The little guy who buys that roll over has options they don't have plus he doesn't have the overhead of a mechanic that has to be figured into the mix with medical ins., vacations, etc. A fix that might take 20 hours adds significantly to the claim amount and can bring the job close to the break off point which is well below the tractor value I might add. A roll over that the owner has paid for doesn't encumber the dealer and if it's no longer insured the ins co. doesn't even get involved.
This could be a great deal for someone who has the ability and time to fix the tractor. Especially a roll over with low miles. You know it's not a bad tranny or engine so it just becomes a matter of the time and energy to get and replace parts. Heck, he could easily straighten the ROPS that the dealer has to figure the new cost of in his estimate.
I've worked on these Deere's. I had a broken spline in a front box from a bad U joint in a transfer shaft. Deere figures these parts are open to damage and makes the input shaft short so all you ahve to do is replace it without breaking down the whole box. I'll bet the 3 pt. is designed in the same manner.

What does it matter to you anyways??? i put the thread on here to share my build with the people on here who are interested, apparantly you aren't, so let this thread go with the people who care and are curious.

I haven't figured my time into the price of the tractor. I been workin on it at night whenever i have time. Gives me somethin to do other than sittin on a couch or being a dumba$$ on the computer. In the end my 3320 will do the same job as anyone elses, and now i know alot more about it. For half of market value i won't mind a repair here and there.

My dads 3320 just went off of warranty. guess what?? injector problems....he paid 25000 for his new, and still 3 years later has parts bills. i have 10 into mine, so who is better off??

The tractor was totalled by the ins co. obviously like previously stated it would cost alot more to repair this at the dealer. so i have a cracked hood?? who cares?? one rock outta the bucket might crack the one on your new tractor too...

I have since found a deal on a right side axle housing. That will cure some of my 3 pt arm attachment problems. I will now only have the one ear out of the tranny housing that i am missing.

Here are some pics of the axle housing off the tractor.

Nice pics and I would say that you will know this machine inside and out when you are done. Did you find a used right side axle housing?
This would be a rewarding project and one that would be high in the job satisfaction department.

Nice pix, HANSON. Thx for posting.

You can see how the JD3320 has gone to an all-aluminum main gearbox, from
the cast steel used in the 4310.

Great Hanson!
JD has updated the battery with a fix. A tube now vents acids out the bottom so when you redo the battery compartment you might want to check one out. I don't think the price is that bad. My 2720 came with the new battery.
