JD 2320
Hello. I have an ailing 2320 and had a look at a used, high hours, but seemingly very well maintained 3320. My quick test in his driveway was fine, but throttle very different and wonder if it’s normal.

My 2320 has a very direct throttle. A few mm of movement and Precisely equivalent change in rpm. I can tap tap with palm and get small fixed change.

On 3320, I would move the smaller throttle a certain amount. The 3320 would rev up and then settle to a fixed new higher rpm. Not a fixed direct relationship. Very indirect and revvy (not a word).

Is this normal? Perhaps it has a bit more of a brain than my 2320 and aurorevs and settles down.

just worry it’s something I’d need to send in and not keen on that. Wonder if any owners have insight.

Thanks.

From the explanation and if I understand, sounds like a linkage hanging up. Some good penetrating oil might do wonders. I use Blue Creeper as I've found it better than Kroil and much better than WD-40.

Ok. So you think it should have the same rock solid direct connection to rpm like my 2320? I read about load match but not sure what it is not it this tractor has it.

That does not sound normal, cab or open station?

Open. It’s a 2006. So the rampy revs is normal ?

My 15+ year old MF1540 throttle was acting the same; in that it would not idle all of the way down. I could idle it down with my finger in the engine compartment, so it was basically sticking. Sprayed it with electrical cleaner and then lubed it; works fine now.

Ok. Thanks all. Seems like not a big issue in any case so will take another look.

I have an open station 2005 model year 3520 with around 1000 hours on it and this sounds similar to the way my throttle works. The engine RPMs will reduce slightly after moving the throttle up to increase engine speed. The RPMs will then remain steady after they have reduced a bit. It has always worked this way, so I consider it to be normal operation as I don't have anything to compare.

What model year and how many hours on the 3320?

Thanks. It’s a 2006 with 3500 hours. I know it is a LOT but I know the use history and very light. Condition seems exceptional. I have had my 2320 since 2006 and 850 hours. So even if I used for 10 years ….I would prob be at 4000 on the 3320. I get mixed feedback on the value.

I love my 3320
It punches well above its size

(Hard to see around this load)

A bit more reasonable to navigate

Chose to skid after popping them

That’s a big log. I have regreted not getting the 3320 initially. I’ve struggled with brush hog at the edge of pto power and always getting wheel slip grading driveway. Not as much the power but the weight. Also have some landscape stones I can’t move.

Just trying to justify. High hour machine I found is good price because I know how well it was maintained. …..but when I come to sell I don’t want to get nothing.

Watch for a 4300 or 4400 with 1000 hours or less with a 430 loader (FEL). Avoid those with the 420 FEL, and I'd suggest HST tranny.
They are a work horse and are without the electronics having to deal with a computer. For awhile, selling for $10-11K, but now around $15-17K.

I ended up buying the neighbours 3320. I did have to tighten The throttle linkage and the three point hitch actuator/handle linkage as it would not stay elevated without my hand on it. After a weekend of use I love it. It is twice the tractor of my 2320. Cutting, box blading driveway is effortless. Much smoother and quieter. Doesn’t slow down or labour even slightly. Loader is super fast ( I have to adapt). Three point hitch is in another league. Like a pro vs hobby version. Also much easier to make adjustments to angle etc without tools.

I am amazed what I got done with my 2320 over the years….but the 3320 is impressive.
