So got a printer over the holidays, really interesting to work with, learning a lot in my free time. Anyway, tinkered this up this AM when my usual spout bought the farm. Gen 1, has lot of kinks, but if you own a diesel PT you probably struggle with not soaking everything in oil. not sure why the PT has such a crap design but whatever... This worked, need to make some mods but I use it so infrequently we will see if I just use it till this one breaks or start putting in upgrades to the stl file.

Love my 3d printer but they still have a long way to go to be a consumer friendly tool.

If you are technical enough and don't mind the tinkering though it's amazing how they can provide value and fun.

Nice to see you were able to apply it to a PT improvement!

What are you working with? I have a x1c and it seems to me to be reasonably easy to run. For sure we are on a cusp of a change with these things.

I too have recently 3D printed tractor parts. In fact members asked if we can go into production for vintage parts no longer available! I'm only a 3yo in the CAD realm and my brother 15years.

FreeCAD tends to be an all around tool. It can even read in STL files, convert them back into CAD models for you to modify. Something the other systems don't do so well or can't.

Even full front grills!

45+ year vintage parts no longer available. just replicate and 3D print the front grill.

The flexible and semi-transparent materials can make replacement lenses no longer in production.

Never thought about steering bezel. Mine was never there. Good ideas
Provide the ID side, and I can tweak if to fit your machine. The side walls go down 19mm or 3/4-in.

I can take the Y for Yanmar off too.

Then post a FreeCAD file or STEP file for you to mess with, then 3D Print.

I bought a Prusa before Covid. It's the original Prusa, by Joesph Prusa, from a company called Prusa (the dude really loves his name). Initially, I didn't have much use for it—I had stopped playing with dolls several years earlier—so it sat unassembled for about a year and a half. Eventually, a mechanical engineer friend convinced me to set it up.

Once I began using the printer, I was genuinely amazed. The difference between additive and subtractive manufacturing, especially when creating organic shapes, was shocking. Recognizing its potential, I quickly moved on from the original Prusa (it was just too slow) and upgraded to a Bambu Lab X1C. Later, I added an A1. The A1, in particular, offers fantastic value—it shares the same bed size as the X1, is much quieter and the print quality is even better.

Throughout my life, only three tools have given me that profound "I don't know how I lived without this" feeling: the Fein Multimaster, the Bambu Lab X1, and the Power Trac PT-425.

One of my "techy" friends has been working on my Toro Workman. The cab door had been jerry rigged, and he got with one of his buddy's at work and they printed the parts to make the door latch mechanism operational again. Toro didn't make the cab, and the cab manufacturer is hard to deal with from a consumer standpoint. (as is Toro also). The fact that I have an operational door amazes me!

The first time I saw anything about 3D printing was quite a while ago. Jay Leno did a segment with a guy about recreating missing/broken car marker lights and turn signal lights. They had some old car that was missing, say, the left rear turn signal lens. They removed the right turn signal lens, and put a 3D scanner on it. Once they got it scanned, they just mirrored the scan and produced a left turn signal. They then cast the 3D printed left signal in something to get a negative mold of it, then poured the amber resin in the mold. Ta da! New turn signal lens.

Pretty neat!
