Not at all sure what they're called, but the other day I saw a JD with a 4ft square steel box on the 3PH. The sides were about 15" high, and the pivot point was well forward of center so when the latch was tripped the box flopped down into the dump position. My local dealers have no idea what I'm talking about but it had the JD logo on it and it would be perfect for hauling loads of stove-length firewood out of the forest.

If anybody's seen one of these, what are they called and where can I find one?

TIA, Pete

CARRY ON TRAILER™ DUMP/CARRY-ALL from T.S.C. About $298, works great , has a 4'X6' box with 1foot sides, it dumps a load with a little help. I have one and we just took 4 cords of cut wood out with it. One big problem, latch is week so I drilled a hole beside latch and put a hitch pin in for safety, now it does not dump when I hit a bump. It also needs to be sat down on a block otherwise it is hard to attach. You can also use fel to lift front of tractor to put it right on the ground for loading. I think It will be handy for lots of things in the future.

Boondox,
Where are you in Vermont? I got what you are describing from my Kubota dealer in Barre, Riverside tractor. Must admit I haven't used it yet but hope to soon. I'll get a picture for you if I get the chance.

Don and JWNGE -- That TSC version looks even better since it uses expanded mesh. Nothing left behind to sweep out...unless, of course, you want move move dirt, sand, mulch etc. On the other hand, the mesh would double as a nice dirt sifter. But thanks for the pic; it's exactly what I was talking about!

Jerry -- I live just down the road from you in Mansfield, just outside of Stowe. Hyde Park is nice; much more good soil there and not so steep as my land.

My Grandson is building me one for my Kubota similar to the TSC version. I built a Cat 0 version for my JD 455. I love it. So does the wife, she uses it constantly. The one my Grandson is building will work with a quick hitch which makes it even better. I require solid sides and floor because I'll haul dirt for flower beds, etc. When he gets it done, I'll post pics. It will be 4x4 with 2ft sides and a drop in tailgate. I tried a hinged tailgate and didn't like it at all so cut it off and made a drop in style. Very, very handy piece of equipment.
