We had some cool weather come in this week.
There were clouds below us in the valley so I took a couple pictures of it. The scenery is starting to change again ... a lot of the grasses are starting to green up. We even got a couple Sun flowers sprouted in our front area.

Yeah, us too. It's nearly 11 am and it has heated up about 10-12 degrees from what it was at 05:00

Holy crap John, just looking at that picture gave me headache. How do you do it man? The only thing 10-12 degrees around here are the slope grades on my road.:) Some of the rest of the property the slope grades are more like the lows here... 35-45 degrees.

Lee and Brian,
Thank you for posting that. I've been struggling with where to build the firewood rack. In another thread guys were saying they put several cords (or more) into their basements. I commented in those threads saying I would have room in my giant crawlspace, but the thought of bugs, termites and snakes have haunted me.
My first instinct was to build it away from the structures, but not super far for fire reasons too.

Yup we infested out House with carpenter ants when I was a boy Do not keep firewood in the house where it is warm

a lean to is probably a good idea. cheaper too. you can always put it in the back to hide it.

Actually, it's easier to take our temps than those in St. Louis where I grew up. You can put on a sweat shirt and insulated carharts and be outside here at -10F all day comfortably. But when in St. Louis in the summer and it's 95F and 95% humidity at midnight - it sucks! I do get chilled when in a tree stand 35 ft up facing a 10-15 mph wind with snow when it's 15F out. That does get old after 3-4 hours.

It's also easier and cheaper to heat with wood than to cool with electricity. Then again, our set back thermostat is 63 during the day and 55 at night. But with the firebox going, it's 75 in the basement.

Loretta - the higher and thicker the grass the more rodents will be around which will attract the snakes as they make a good meal for them.

Good luck with your future snake farm. :)

Well, we hear that the Fresno zoo will pay $10,000 for a 7-foot rattlesnake.

What is going on with Loretta? Every time you post a picture of her she keeps getting younger. or maybe you have a newer camera?

Just my guess, but I noticed the same thing.
Being happy with little or no stress can do that to a person. Just having the major portion of getting moved in to the new home has to make you feel good.

But then again, maybe it was getting her own tractor. :D

:p Gee, you guys are making me blush. Thanks so much for the compliments.

It's true that reduced stress (and a new toy) takes away many of those 'worry lines' that make anyone look older.

And yes, it's also the short hair. I have to laugh at Rob's comments about my short hair. When we first met, I had spiked hair, and it was one of the things he always commented about... until we got married - then his comments were more like "why don't you grow your hair long".. so I did. But I've had short hair all my life, and I really like it a lot better.

It's always been sort of expensive to go get my hair cut, and I also just didn't have the time anymore. One time, I mentioned to my hairdresser that Rob cut his hair with a Flo-Bee, and she was totally aghast. But I had always told Rob that when we moved and I was retired I'd 'let' him cut my hair with the Flo-Bee. I figured that way it wouldn't matter if it looked choppy or something bad happened.

To my incredible surprise, my haircut turned out even BETTER than my hairdresser does. I'd been trying and trying to get my hairdresser to cut it shorter, and I just couldn't communicate what I wanted. Rob did it exactly like I had always wanted it to be! So now I'm sold!
