this dealer also sells mahindras and the Titan tires on those read "Made in the USA" kinda ironic no? )

Mine has Galaxy tires on it. I haven't looked at where specifically they are made, but I'd assume Europe and likely Germany based on the Galaxy web site. From what I am told, Galaxy is a pretty premium duty tire.

You owe it to yourself to see and hear it in person. Then make the call.

( have been following this thread because I am one of those who has been waiting anxiously for the release of the 3000 series' I am now starting to feel guilty about my desire to have this new machine, since several posters seem to be under-impressed by them after seeing them. I also certainly do not want to downgrade from my 4310, especially if more parts are imported and there exists a question with regard to their benefit over existing models. If only there were a way to turbocharge my 4310.......... )
I wouldn't go so far as to say "downgrade". If you're after increased power the 3000 Series has it in spades. My earlier statement was in reference to certain features going back to the way they were on an earlier model to increase margin. You make it cheaper to produce but increase desirability by offering more power which will justify a price increase over the current model. Not to mention that the power increase is being developed by Yanmar so those costs are Yanmar's not Deere's. Deere (and Deere's customers) get the benefit while Yanmar gets the expense (which is not just shared by tractors but marine and genset users as well). Yanmar soaking up R & D costs(overseen by Deere) help Deere's margin also.
As far as increased foreign content, there's no way around it. It will continue at an increasing pace. Taking GM again as an example, the motor in the Chevy Equinox (and the 2006 Pontiac Torrent) is made in China even though the vehicle is assembled in Ingersoll, Ontario and a better motor (3800 V-6)is available in Flint, MI.
If you're after more power, don't feel guilty about trading for a 3x20.

Accountants make WORSE products evidenced by Roger Smith and his bunch of goons torpedoing GM in the mid-Eighties. They set the framework for the mess that they are in now. As far as Lutz, he's nutz. But that's another story /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That might be an option... I am working on that...

I feel the the original intent of this thread still holds true. If you are going to buy a new tractor, a 3020 is a fine one. But, it might not be enough to make owners who are perfectly happy with their TEN series machines to rush in and trade.

I see this as a positive to all of the 00 and 10 series owners. I do not foresee a huge glut of machines on dealers lots as everyone had to have the new features on the new machine. The value will hold in the older machines and make trade margins closer between old and new. It would be interesting to pose the question to a dealer "Why do I need to trade?"
Before the 00 series, they could say-step through console, upgraded transmissions, under hood exhaust, large horsepower gains, etc. What would they say - non-turbo, turbo, intercooled turbo only in hydro, dash upgrades, loader design but not capacity? I know, I am happy with my machine. That is also the reason I would not trade for a large trade price. Right now, I think the 20 series will help a nice used 00 or 10 series hold its own.

Agreed. Not a lot of changes that would inspire a current owner to change, but enough to get me to wait. Some of the "cost cutting" things I view as going back to the old tried and true. It's easy to bump a rocker switch and engage 4wd. As for the park brake, i'd rather have seen the REAL automotive style where you pull the lever and it applies the brakes.

The turbo thing should be pretty easy, but not cheap.

Add engine oil cooler to the list. The turbocharged Yanmar has a water to oil cooler:

Deeper sump (6qt capacity) on the 3720 also. I'm catching on Rockyridge!

My JD Dealer advised me to buy the 4310 V the new 20 series, he had both on the lot at the time too,why did he say that? I took it to be, stay with the proven CUT record???

If I were in his shoes, I would probably try to sell the old style before the new. They aren't going to get any fresher...

Both are great machines, but any buyer needs to look carefully and decide for herself!
