4-in-1 vs. Std. Loader

I notice that there isn't that much on the board in general (of course I've found some) in discussion of 4 in 1 buckets. I know that they are:

1. More expensive than std. loaders.
2. A lot heavier requiring some rear ballast

... but without having actually used one, they seem to me to be much more useful. Can the 4-1 owners chime in here? Any opposition to the 4-1s?

Do they hold a lot less general than their counterpart loaders?

Grabbing, pulling, scraping, top-down loading ... seems to be the thing to me. But I'm still a 4-1 novice .. so let's hear your thoughts.

DAP--- I know you are looking for 4-1 owners which I am not /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gifbut I sure would like to be. I’ve looked into it and figure that for my B21 the cost would run $1500 to $2000 after all the hydraulics and setup. The issue that slows me down is the extra weight. With smaller loaders the 4-1 will lose you about 200 lbs of capability. That is to much loss for the way I use my tractor. When I go to a larger tractor it will be on the top of my list.

Hi Mark, I've read the Carter notes on 4-in-1s. I'm looking to put this on a B2710 or B2910. Althought a lil larger than the B21, you may still make your point regarding weight and capacity.

Hopefully others will chime in and reply. It would be an expensive mistake methinks!

I have a B21 with a 4 in 1 and consider it one of the most important tools I have.
It cost alittle more, but then so does everything worth having.
It adds weight thus lowers your lift capacity - So I may need to take a few more scoops per job. I can rarely fill it anyway...
But nothing makes up for wearing virtual gloves instead of mittens
