4' LED "shop" lights for ~ $32 at Costco

I've got several regular fluorescent lights over work areas in my barn. They are suspended at 9-10 foot from a ceiling that is quite a bit higher. They work....'ok'. When I'm working in the center of the barn, lightening is not so good.

Has anyone considered mounting a led off road light in high ceiling areas like that. 13,000 lumens for $30. That way you can mount them high...let the light spread out more. The light output may be to harsh....but I need something that will flood out a lot of light.

I guess biggest issue would be source of 12 volts DC?

I use something like this in my 12x20' workshop. Actually two of them, the second comes on when I need a lot of light. Not sure the lumen ratings on mine. This is the very common style of floodlights in Europe, originally halogen, then LEDs started taking over. Most importantly, it runs off of your home's AC voltage. They are relatively cheap, and I had them on hand which is why I'm using them for now. When I finish the ceiling, I'm going to get some recessed LED downlights.

The mounting bracket on these is simple. I use one screw through the big hole with a washer, mounted to the beam above the light so I can aim it at different areas.

I bought a couple of the 50 watt versions of your lights last year, as possible solution to lighting my two 30’ flag poles. I was pretty underwhelmed with their performance. Still looking for a better solution.

I think for lighting up flags you would want something with a more focused beam. Waterproof PAR type bulbs I have the impression give a more focused beam. Try searching Amazon for "LED outdoor spotlights". Here's one that's pricey that has a narrow 20° beam for lighting flag poles: http://a.co/jctqIXu

The floodlights you bought last year are better off just being used to light up a yard.

I have to agree with you and I’m researching for LED Spot lights now. Thanks for the link!

I used a bulb similar to this... Jianyana PAR3 LED Flood Light Bulb 35w Replacement (32 lumen) 36Watt E27 Medium Base Tracking Lighting 6K White Body - - Amazon.com

for my flagpole... It's not quite the same, but I can't find that actual source I used. I is very bright, and work very well....EXCEPT....it occasionally just goes off. I don't know if the circuitry heats up and a breaker inside shuts it down or what. But when it is on...it REALLY light that flag up. AND the light is perhaps 50ft or so from the base of the flagpole, because that's where my electrical source is at.

Thanks, I’ll look into them. I have two flag poles, spaced about 20’ apart so, will have to use two of whatever I do.

Maybe not....my light covers a bit. If you can place the light in the right place you could be surprised.
