4' LED "shop" lights for ~ $32 at Costco

I'm on the hunt for the 19.-20.00> 4' 4500 lumen linkable shop lites.. 6 minimum..
I saw them at Rural King back around Black Friday but when I went to pull the trigger, they were out of stock..
The cheapest I can find them now is 25-29.00..
IF ANYBODY knows where they're at PLEASE let us/me know..
I don't want the led replacement strips.. I NEED the whole set-up..

When comparing or shopping for these, be sure to note the lumens. There is a wide margin of light output all being sold as "shop lights", so do your homework. Some produce lower light than T8 or T12 lamps, while others produce much more light.

More importantly, IMO, is to pay attention to the Efficiency of the light. That is, the Lumens/watt.

Every light sold in America today should have a "Lighting Facts" label on it's packaging. Example:

The first label above explicitly states the Efficiency: "46" (lumens/watt. Which by the way, is a miserable efficiency.

The 2nd label, you have to infer it from the Lumens and the Watts, to whit: 510 lumens/ 65 watts = 7.8 lumens/watt, which is even worse.

For shop lights, I wouldn't even bother for anything less than 100 lumens/watt. Those Rural King specials are around 78 lumens/watt last time I looked. That means No Way I'm buying them.

Costco are 88 lumens per watt, and are much brighter than the fluorescent ones they replaced. I love them.

I’m installing 8’ fixtures with 4 x 48” T8 LED tubes. They are 7200 lumens using 56 watts or 128.6 lumens / watt.

I think it depends on my wallet and other factors such as linkability, switching, color, etc. Since I'm in a fairly low cost electric area, TVA, I focus more on lumens per dollar.

Late last year HD had 2.8 ft. 34-Watt White Integrated linkable LED Shop Light 3,000 lumen on sale for about $10@ (now $15). I've places a 4 footer doesn't quite fit. But it's 3,000 lumen for $10. That's like 6 60W incandescent bulbs.

I also bought a (Pack of 6) LED T5 Integrated Single Fixture 4FT,20W,2200lm,6500K (Super Bright White),Utility led Shop Light at about $55 (or $9.16@), again linkable, but it only came with 2 switchable cords (and now only one!).

If your like me you need to match your needs to what they are selling. I've got a LOT of 4' and 8' fluorescent light fixtures in 5,500 sq ft of warehouse. ALL of the ballasts are suspect. I've been losing one or two a year. It was economical for a while to buy replacement 4' and 8' LED tubes, disconnect the ballasts and run that way. Sometimes I need the lights to be individually switchable, sometimes I need them linkable, all variations seem to exist

When I started this thread over 3 years ago $32 for a 2 bulb, 3700 lumen product was pretty good. Now I'm seeing about half that price, how low will it go?

I just installed a bunch of these and I'm very happy:
1ft. x 4ft. Flat Panel LED - 4 Watt - Dimmable - 5 Lumens - LumeGen

5000 lumens, 125 lumens per watt, 0.74 cents/lumen. What I like is that it's a flat panel and the light is very even, you can look straight at it. The body of the light is only 5/8" thick so you can mount it directly to the ceiling. (You have to cut a hole in the drywall for the junction box though).

I got 2 of the 4 foot Sam’s club led lights last year. Hung them in the barn feed room. Every time we get a misty rain they stop working for a few days. Package did say they were indoor rated only. So not weather tight. Are any of these shop lights rated for outdoors?
