4' LED "shop" lights for ~ $32 at Costco

I just installed a bunch of these and I'm very happy:
1ft. x 4ft. Flat Panel LED - 4 Watt - Dimmable - 5 Lumens - LumeGen

5000 lumens, 125 lumens per watt, 0.74 cents/lumen. What I like is that it's a flat panel and the light is very even, you can look straight at it. The body of the light is only 5/8" thick so you can mount it directly to the ceiling. (You have to cut a hole in the drywall for the junction box though).

That looks like a pretty good deal! I'm going to remember that next time I need more lights! Thanks!

Are any of these shop lights rated for outdoors?

I got 10 of the Costco ones last time they were on sale, put some up, need to do some more, really like them, come on instant, come back on if needed without cooling down (metal halide don't restart very well)..

Last time I was in Atlanta visiting my mom, her kitchen fluorescent lights had started acting up, and there were some basement ones that had stopped working years ago. I bought replace tubes on Amazon, those with the best value/review: http://a.co/g10PW0e $8/piece.

Note that these are "daylight", 5000K, which is going to be high in blue light which affects melatonin production and interferes with sleep. So if you're looking for LED lights for somewhere to use in the evening, and you want to be getting sleepy and not staying up till o-dark-thirty, look for 3000K temperature or less (warm white). It helps, though cheaper LEDs often give up much more blue light anyway.

Anyway, it took a bit longer, but I pulled all the ballasts out of the fixtures and re-wired them inside for these-- no point having the ballast there to waste energy. Probably took me 15 minutes per fixture. So far, half a year later, I haven't heard of any problems from my mother with them.

RK needs to install them in their store. I was only in one once, most of the lights were out and could barely see inside.

I put up one of the single row 3K lumen lights from Rural king this week - wow it is nice and bright. They were $12.99 in the Morganton store last night - sticker said "new low price".
