4\' or 5\' Box Blade for 19HP 4X4

I would like to know what box blade to get, the road I will be working on is about 1 mile long and is pretty rough. The tractor is 4'ft wide weight is 1700 lb has FEL. So what would be the best to get 4' ft or 5' ft. The road is shell and mud also have lot of shell to fill in with. Thanks Sam

I'm not expert by any means, but when I bought my Kubota BX22 [22hp] & I told the dealer I wanted a box scraper - - he sold me a Woods 4'. I definitely need to use 4WD when pulling the BB. Obviously, I don't know how it would perform with a 5' blade, but the 4 footer seems about right to me.

I would use a 4 footer in your situation.

I have a 5 foot box blade, and I don't like to use it on my NH TC18. I use the box blade on my Ford 8N.

I agree with Andy and would go with the heaviest 4' box that the tractor can use.

4' and I am the expert! I've got about 4-5 hours of seat time pulling a BB. ha. Okay, not an expert but you'll do more work with the right size than the wrong size and you're tractor will love you in the morning.
You don't frame a house with a 9lb hammer.

I agree with the others. My tractor is around the same HP and weight as yours and a four footer is all it will comfortable handle.

I have a JD 4100, with 4wd and 20 hp. I have a 54" box blade made by Landpride. My tractor handles it well, but I wouldn't want to go larger. I like the 54" better than a standard 4' model because it covers the tire width completely

You want the one that is as wide as your tractor so you will smooth behind your wheels, but no wider, or sooner or later you'll hand it up on something. My TC18 is 4' wide, and my box blade is 4' wide. It's easy to use -- if the tractor fits though a space, so will the box. Even if you line up everything perfectly, the difference is that you'll make 5 passes to cover 20' in width instead of 4 with a 5' box. Since most box blade work involves multiple passes, you'll probably never notice the difference. I'd rather make 20% more easy passes than work the tractor harder.

A 1 mile long road seems intimidating, but think of it like eating an elephant. You'll get it done one litle bite at a time...however, I will say that after I had my 800' road raised about 18", I'm really glad that I had a contractor with a dozer to do the final leveling. It looked as smooth as a billiard table when he was done, and it took only a short time. I'll be dumping shell on top to another 6", about 4 yards at a time with my dump trailer, and using the box blade to finish it, but I expect it to take many, many hours.

i have a 5' landpride. it works well, but if i try, i can stop my b7610 in its tracks with it. the 4' or 54" would probably be better.

I have the 24 hp Kubota B7610. I was going to purchase a 54" box blade but after reading posts on this forum I decided on the 48" blade. It feels right for my tractor. I think anything bigger would be working my tractor to hard. As was said earlier, my blade is almost exactly the width of my rear tires so I don't need to worry about hanging it up on something. Where the tractor can go, so can the blade
