Maybe one of those companies would be Bosch ?
A quick search for "diesel injector pump manufacturers" would probably confirm/deny what your friend told you.

I would think either Bosch or Roosamaster injector pumps for most Deeres'.

All Yanmar powered Deere compacts use Yanmars own pump. Yanmar builds the entire engine including the injection pump. I would say with less than 200hrs on the clock, that this paticular pump has had water, or some other type of contamination to cause the pump to fail.

I just had the fuel pump, AM876266 replaced on my Model 790 JD, cost was $73.20 plus about $240 labor. Actually it was not the fuel pump that kept the tractor from starting as we discovered, it was a fuse.

Didnt look it up, but $73.00 seems like that would be a Lift Pump, not the Injection Pump...if it is for the injection pump, A1!
