Another follow up question. I decided to tackle the fuel lines myself. Last night I remvoed and replaced with new the easy lines. This morning I am tackling the lines that go to the tank. I have successfully removed them. When I took off the line going from the tank to the banjo bolt on the filter i noticed the hole where it comes into the banjo bolt was plugged with stuff. :(. So, I don't know if the line was breaking down and that's part of the crud, or if it came in thru a small hole in the line or if it came from the tank. Anyone have any thoughts on that? Is there a drain on the bottom of the fuel tank you can open, drain and look for crud? I looked but didn't see one. I'm ready to put the new lines on but want to be sure I'm not going to have more crud plugging the new lines.

I also located the bleeding documentation:

The ports in the banjo bolt fittings are small enough to trap crud, and they become a filter of sorts, but not a good one. If we get a poor running tractor and the fuel lines are good, we will look for adequate fuel flow at the filter housing. If weak flow, we blow back through the hose and generally get a full stream. We then know there is some crud upstream between the filter and tank, and the smallest space is at the banjo fittings and the tank outlet.

By mentioning this, you will have saved some reader a real headache down the road. We all get stuff in the tank occasionally, even the most careful guy does it seems. By diagnosing like I mentioned, they will find what you have found. Clean that and you are good to go.

Thanks so much guys. I finally found it in the drain plug on the tank. I drained a gallon and some small crud came out. I kept draining until I got no more contaminants. Yeah, the hole at the banjo bolt is very small. Thereby trapping and clogging.
New lines going on, everything cleaned out, hoping I'm good to go

I think you are and I'd put money on it, and even give odds. Sounds like you have things well underway and are nearly ready for seat time. :)

Thanks to all for your incredible help. I am back online. Thing fires up like a champ now. Seat time indeed. I'm a bona fide expert now on fuel line swaps if anyone ever needs advice. :). Thanks again!!

Awesome! RedFirstGen is the new fuel line expert! Sysop and I can take a rest....all of this typing is almost like work.

RedFirstGen, tell us about the name. First Gen what?

67 RS, very sweet. I had a 69 SS for a time, and our GM here at Dave's Tractor has a '67 right now. It has a 383 stroker and a 4-speed. We took it to the track a couple years back and ran it a few times down the 1/4 mile. Traction? What traction? Somehow he got the idea that the guy with the most smoke off the tires wins...fun day.

Uh oh, you arent one of those 69 guys who thinks they didn't make Camaros any other year are you? ;). Mine also has a 383 stroker in it. Had a 4 speed but I pulled it and put a 5 speed tremec in it. Original engine was long gone when I bought it so I built it how I wanted it. 12 bolt posi in it now, multi leaf rear, power disc...etc

Let me explain. The 67's were sort of like practice models. Chevy II's with a little smoother body lines. In '68 they lost the pickup like wing vents and added side markers. Once they got all of that prototype figured out in the first couple of years, they went into production in 1969 - with the first real Camaro. :)

I took my cam/tuned LS7 Z06 to the track that day and ran 25 mph faster thru the traps than my buddy with his traction plagued 1967 prototype Camaro. We learned that it requires a lot more than HP to runs quick times and the newer Vettes put the power to the tires pretty well. I joked to him that I had time to do the 1/4, turn around and come back and look for him. He joked that at least he built his car and didn't just buy it, and on and on it went! I did get spanked by a Yamaha R1 and then a Kawi Z1000, but that was expected as those liter bikes were running about 140mph to my 125-126. 94 degrees that day, so not very good air and I was not running slicks. My times were embarrassingly slow in the high 11's. With slicks and a better driver I should've been in the tens.

383, 5-speed, multi-leaf, 12-bolt. Check, check, check...all the good stuff. And to be honest, of the early Camaros I think the 67 would be my first choice, 69 my second.

I guess I really derailed this subject, but since the tractor is fixed I guess that is ok.

Your first paragraph is classic. If I was at the line with my Camaro, looked over and saw I was lined up against a LS7 Z06 I would fake a mechanical issue. :). Old muscle is cool and has a warm spot in my heart but it's no competition for modern day muscle. That's a sweet sweet car! (z06) If I were to buy a Camaro all over again it would probably be a 69. Maybe it's just wanting something different the next time around.
