Ha! You probably would avoid this one anyway.. being a non-Deere owner..

Actually, I am strongly considering getting a JD 1025R for landscape use around the property. My Kioti tractor does everything I need but can leave some mighty terrible ruts on my property at times.

it sounds like you finally struck a nerve and they found a way to get that mysterious tool to fix the seal.... hmm,, a special tool to drive in a seal... sounds real special...

anyway,, good luck and i'm sure you will keep us posted on the progress.


(unfortunately manufacturers are forcing dealerships to jump thru hoops to get this sort of stuff fixed, so consumers are the losers in the new age of tech support)

Well today they came and got the 4044m. Dealership called this afternoon and said the tool was next day air shipped from some big dealer in the midwest. Said they will start working on it monday. Now we will see how long it takes to repair it. This will be my only deere i ever buy again!

Maybe it was the JD seal extractor tool that was so special. My Dad used to make kitchen forks into a tool to pull out the old axle seals on cars and trucks. Would pop them out in 30 seconds or less per wheel.

Sounds like you are finally making some progress. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for the repair.

Tractor is still at dealership. Now there telling me its not covered under warranty!!!! The dealer said it was covered under powertrain warranty!! The NIGHTMARE Continues!!!

I would have thought, any such cavity has vents to allow for pressure changes. That makes not a lick of sense.

Makes perfect sense. Axle seals are sensitive to fluid level. Very sensitive.

I don't think any color would warranty a leaking seal at 3yrs/400hrs.

I'll ask the unanswered question. Was the fluid level properly checked?

No logical reason for both seals to start leaking at the same time unless caused by a sudden change.

If the delay was costing me income I would have ran it and daily checked fluid and add as necessary. The fluid level should be right at the bottom of the axle bearing.

Tractor has been religiously maintained! It was always pressure washed, foam cannoned, and waxed every time it was used. Always did fluid checks and oil changes before scheduled maintenance before manual stated times. Always greased all fittings regularly. Never really did any kind of strenuous work with it.

Pressure washed to get all the dirt off the axles????
One of the worst things for seals can be a pressure washer.
