I did walk around to all the windows and see if I could feel any breeze blowing in. Wind is whipping around at around 25mph right now and I couldn’t feel any air around any of the windows. Super happy about that!

My current shop windows are 51" at the bottom and 70" at the top in a 10' 5 panel door.

New shop I haven't taken accurate measurements but I'm guessing 62"-ish at the bottom in a 12' 7 panel door.

I like yours much better!!!!

Not much progress this past week, but the wife spotted some turkeys from the house so I snuck out and watched them from next to the shop.

Started on the ceiling and finished up the tin work on the outside this week. Unfortunately, we have some issues to discuss with the builder. Found several spots where the drill slipped off screws and gouged the exterior tin. Also, if you look at the east wall from the house there are “bumps” all over it. Looks like maybe nails sticking out of the plywood? I’m not sure. The rest of it looks pretty good, but the wife made mention of the east wall, so that’s not good! Builder is supposed to be by after bit to discuss light locations on the inside, so I guess I will address those issues then. I’m less than thrilled about it!

In the pics looks great. I like the white trim. At the corners looks better than red or brown. Also at the soffits and eaves.

I'll try to get over there and get some Drone shots tomorrow. Already have a dozen or more from previous visit.

Why did you change the direction for the ceiling from the natural way of going across your trusses to adding purlins and going the other direction?

I asked Jarid that same question
Neither of us know why. He's gonna ask the builder. They added 2x4s on 4ft centers so no structural gain. Actually lost a little since now the ceiling is suspended by a 2x4 laying flat rather than the 2x6 truss sill on edge.

I'm curious as to the answer. Not condemning the method, just curious.

I shot some Drone pics today so we'll try to get them posted. It's a very good looking building. The colors are country.

Maybe the builder was worried about the ceiling sagging? My barn trusses are 4ft. on center with a metal ceiling and R40. My carpenter buddy told me not to worry about it. I was worried about sagging so I checked it with a laser before and after the insulation....there wasn’t any difference.

The building trusses are running North/South 4ft apart.

2x4s laying flat were ran East/West 4ft apart.

The ceiling tin was then screwed to the 2x4s.

If you study the pic Jarid posted you can see this.

I see exactly what he did. The picture he posted looks like a rectangle, not a 4x4 square.
