4110 & Power Beyond?

Anybody have the Power Beyond Rear Auxiliary kit (part # BM19290) on thier 4110?

I need a remote and I am trying to figure out the best wat to add one.

The power-beyond kit looks like a good deal at only $210. It gets you the fittings, plugs, and hoses you will need to connect to the SCV. Its kind of a tight space, so you could mess around for a while getting the right combination of fittings.

The power-beyond only gets you the by-pass pressure line and return lines from the SCV. It is suitable to connect a down-stream valve-bank like that on a back-hoe. This pressure line is always "active", and must be allowed to flow in order for the tractor's SCV to operate. When it is not being used, it is looped back to the return using the supplied male and female quick-connects.

Note that when you daisy-chain independent valve banks in an open-center system, the upstream bank gets priority. If it is activated, the pressure is split between the banks so you generally cannot operate them both at the same time.

If you need an additional control circuit, you will need to connect the pressure and return lines of the power-beyond to an open-center control valve (3-way or 4-way, with or without detents, etc). The power-beyond kit has quick-connects on it, but you could leave those off and with the proper fittings, connect the power beyond directly into the valve block. Then, you would put quick-connects on the outputs of the valve block. You would probably want to mount the valve on the fender where you can reach the handle without twisting around.

There were some great posts about doing this on a 4100 back maybe a year ago - do a search.

If all you want to do is have hydraulic conenctions on the rear of the tractor, JD also makes a hose kit that runs the front loader circuits from the SCV to the back of the tractor. When you want to use them on the back, you plug the hoses in at the front. When you want to use the loader, you plug the loader back in. This might be a better solution if you don't need to use the loader on the same project.

Thanks guys, I am learning...

I need the remote for a loader mounted snowplow project I am working on, and maybe a hydraulic top link down the road.

I cannot decide whether to go the new directional control valve route or the electric soleniod diverter route. Both have positives and negatives.

All the DCV's I have seen are HUGE, I only have a 5gpm flow rate, so are there any "compact" DCV's that would fit better on the fender? I am still learning the lingo for all the different types of DCV's, so when I search for them (like at PRINCE or SURPLUS CENTER) I get a confused and frustrated.

The V&M Electric Multiplier looks good, I could split the dump circiut on the FEL for the angle of the plow, but it would need to be located up where the QD's are for the FEL. Not much room and not sure if it would look good there. Also the QD's have steel lines feeding them so not sure how to extend them into the multiplier.

I did not know that the PB lines needed to be connected to each other when not used, the parts diagram on JD Parts does not show this "loop" in the kit.

Can you confirm this loop when you take your BH off?
Do you have have pictures of the setup that you could send me?
Did you install it yourself?
Do you have the instructions from the kit that you could scan or fax me?

If you have less than 5 gpm flow, Surplus Center has a 3-spool Eaton-Cessna valve that is very small, less than 7" x 7" footprint. You will have to get the power beyond adaptor also. Total cost should be around $260. Based on the valve specs, this one is ideal for small tractors. Unfortunately my tractor has 6.4 gpm so I did not use this one.

If you look carefully at the diagram, you will see that one hose terminates in a female quick connect socket (6) that is mounted to the bracket (8).

The other hose is permantly assembled with coupler (13) to a pig-tail (10) with the male quick-connect (7). When not using the PB, you plug the pig-tailed hose into the connector on the bracket.

The pig-tailed loop hose always stays with the tractor.

If you were connecting a valve up instead of a backhoe, you might leave off the quick-connects, the bracket, and the pig-tail loop and instead just thread the hoses directly to the valve body with the appropriate adapter fittings.

Strange.

Under the 4100, BM19290 shows the extra length of hose.

Under the 4110, same part number BM19290, no hose.

The drawing numbers, however, are different, so it must be a different rev or something.

I found they also have a 2 spool for $175 (that is all I need)

Is the Power Beyond sleeve necessary since I am not adding a DCV upstream to this one? Or is it necessary just to keep the flow going through the DCV when the spools are nuetral?

Valve specs are 5 GPM (18.9 L/min)

My Tractor specs are as follows:
Type=Open Center
Rated Flow Total=7.4 GPM (28 L/min)
Steering=2.3 GPM (8.7 L/min)
Max Output @ SCV Couplers(Implement)=5.1 GPM (19.3 L/min)

I have 2 pumps (one just for steering), so I assume the other pump flows 5.1 GPM, One tenth gallon over the valve specs.

I am not familiar with how JD plumbs their hydraulic circuit. But if the 3pt comes after your valve you will need the power beyond sleeve so that fluid will flow when your valves are in nuetral. You will also need a hose from the valve outlet to the reservoir for the exhaust fluid when the valve is actuated.

I used to have the specs on that Eaton-Cessna valve. Surplus Center should be able to fax them to you. If your max implement flow is 5.1 than you would be running at max. Call Surplus Center and ask for technical help.
