I will use a tractor primarily for mowing pasture and loader work, but would like the capability to haul a round bale (1200+ lbs) occaisionally. The lift capacity of the 4500 with a 460 loader appears to be more than adequate, but I'd like the hydrostat transmission. Comments or suggestions?

Kansas, have you looked at John Deere's own web site? They have a lot of their equipment and specs listed there, although it seems a little slow to me to navigate through it.

John, thanks for the glowing comments!! You should see what I'm doing with it over putting up the new barn, hahaha. By the way guys remember to put some kind of ballast on when lifting. I didn't have an accident but I was lifting up a load of 2x12 rafters and I'd forgotten to put on the box blade that I usually use for a ballast and it got a little tipsy.

I would go up to the 4600 or 4700 if I was you. You get alot more tractor for not alot more money. Like John said I use the tar out of my little 4600. I can carry bales on the back and the front with no problems. I leave the one on the back and lift the front one in. I've been pretty happy with mine. I just got the backhoe as well and that's a pretty impressive piece of equipment as well. I really can't complain about mine at all it's done everything and more that I've asked of it.
