4500 Mahindra Steering

I just looked at the parts breakdown for a 4500 2wd. It has a separate tank for the steering system. Filter is in tank. Steering Hyd's is completly separate from tractor hyd system.Still cant find that part your trying to identify. :confused3:

HI:Jabonee: Can you give me any advice on my mahindra 4500> I having the issue where My steering wheel turning around and around, I for the second time have replaced my HSU,I have reinstalled the HSU, and there is no leaks. I double checked all lines. My power steering fluid is overheating for some reason. My power steering fluid reservoir is full, i have my tractor front wheels jacked up off the ground, and still I can not get the front wheels to turn. before i could drive the tractor for a short while and the steering will began to get harder and later not turning the wheels at all. The HSU unit i have now, the shop stated is a brand new one. It appear that power steering fluid is not getting to the front steering cylinder. I have replaced the filter inside the power steering reservoir, still same problem, tractor jacked up, steering wheel still not turning front wheels. While is the fluid boiling or getting hot. What is the unit on top of the fluid reservoir, not the dip tick, but the other unit where the fluid line push fluid into the resevoir.is there a pump inside this unit, or something else that is not letting fluid get to the front wheel cylinder??? i also notice a pencil hole in my manifold above the power steering pump, that is blowing heat down on the power steering/hyd pump. Is this hole made by design, should a hole be in the manifold, i can hold my hand on the back side of the power steering\hydralic pump and feel the heat on my hand blowing down on the pump. Please give me some advice what to look for, that keeping my tractor from steering of making fluid hot....

HI jabonee. I have a mahindra 4500, is the power steering pump the same as the hydraulic pump. is there a power steering pump and a hydraulic pump both on this model tractor. My power steering fluid reservoir is full, no leaks nowhere, tractor is jacked up off front tires, steering wheel turns but front wheel will not turn. just replaced the HSU, which the shop states is a brand new one. Please advice me where to look to see why my steering wheel not turning the front tires.

The steering wheel will never hit a stop as it has no direct connection to the front axle. It doesn't turn a gear box like conventional steering, but just directs hydo fluid to a cylinder.

HI: oldpilgrim>> I have a 4500 2wd 2002, I am having problem with steering. My steering wheel get hard to turn after running my tractor a little, it will not make sharp turns, only wide turns, and later will not turn the front wheels at all. I have had the HSU top seal replaced, because it was first leaking fluid from under the steering wheel. I remounted the HSU myself after the seal replacement. Later I began to notice, the steering problem no sharp turns, only will make wide turns. Than i began to notice my steering fluid reservoir fluid getting boiling hot. I aGAIN DISMOUNTED MY hsu SENT IT TO THE SHOP, and this time the shop sold me a they said a brand new HSU. I mounted the HSU again myself a second time, and after using the tractor, I began to notice the same problems, no sharp turns, and steering wheel go around and around, with the front wheel not turning. Could I have air in my power steering lines, or in the HSU??? How do you bleed the HSU or the power steering lines???? I tried jacking up the tractor off front wheels and turning steering wheel back and forward, but that made no different. I have double checked for leaks around all steering lines, HSU and steering pump, no leaks, and fluid reservoir is full, still front wheel will not turn. Could I have a power steering pump mounted on the right side of the tractor below the fluid reservoir problem????? Ho do I test that the power steering pump is bad???? Please help.............................
