Henri88 Just wondering I bought a used 47" blower the other week and was doing some cleanup and maint. before winter.
I noticed when I took the 4 bolts off of plate with the sprockets so you can adjust the chain. that a couple of the bolts used a locking complete metal nut and the other 2 bolts had locking nuts with nylon inside the nut.
Just wondering which one should go where ???????????
I used the nylon nuts to hold the plate you are showing and the complete metal nut on the upper shield Just wondering if I need to reverse them ???

Thanks

Gene, I wish I had my blower here, but it is still at the dealer. I never had to remove those bolts and nut since I only had to loosen then up to adjust the chain. My guess is the two nylon nuts may not be the original. My experience with nylon is they work find, but after using them a couple of time, they tend to lose their locking ability. I hope I understood your question correctly, if not please let me know. I will do my best to help. Henri

Thanks for the quick reply,,After putting everything back together the other day I thought I had made the wrong decision !!
I tried looking on JD website and couldn't tell, but my take is same as yours , after using nylon nut they don't seem as good after a few uses.. I'll switch these out first of week .
Just waiting for snow to use my new (5yr old) blower. From what I've seen here and different videos it seems like it should do a great job.
Thanks again

Have fun and be safe

Gene, I think you will be very please with the 47'' blower. There are some issue concerning the noise and some vibration. There are a few interesting post on the blower and drive-shaft, some good hint to reduce the noise. Do a search for '' 47'' snowblower drive-shaft''. There is also a retrofit for that long drive- shaft that I am waiting for. As soon as I have it install I will let you no if it is worth it.

Henri, Wild Bill here. I found the small sprocket wasn't centered on the shaft. Got a replacement from the dealer no charge and even it was't correct. Better than the old one but still not right. Can't really ajust the chain correctly. It's tight, loose, tight and loose as it rotates 360 degres. How did you make out on the fan?

Hey Wild Bill! Going to the dealer tomorrow and will ask about the fan. I will let you know. Sorry to hear about that shaft. Hope I am not going to have the same problem. I will not accept another bend shaft, so I will check it out before I take it with me. Thanks for the heads up. You may want to consider doing the same. Maybe they gave you my old one.:p
