4707

If I had to do this over again, based on how the R1's are tearing up my fields, I'd order my tractor
with R4's, or this very interesting new hybrid tire.
Product

I run a disc and a big rototiller, the grip of the R1's is fantastic but I'd rather have less property damage.

In post #136 there is a picture of a tyre that was also mentioned in an article in " Profi" (farmers magazine,Sept or Oct 2018) and the user said the tyre offered excellent wear under high road use and still delivered traction similar to the R1's. These tractors are in the 150- 200 hp range on 38" or 42" rims harvesting potatoes reguardless of the weather.

I've looked through the online Nokian catalog, and if that tire had been offered as an option, you bet.
There is substantial cost here, not only taking off and reinstalling these large tires, but also the beating one takes on a trade.
For over 30 years I have been taking off new oem cheap tires and putting on the best Tirerack.com rated, usually Michelins.
I always received 50 percent of the value of the old tire (per tirerack pricing) applied to the cost of new. On tires this expensive,
that has to be a lot of money. I'm thinking that swapping out all four tires now after delivery would cost thousands of dollars.

shop called, factory tech out, recalibrated the hydraulic clutches so they wouldn't grab in neutral.
Apparently this has happened with others, was a known issue. ++
Seems like they should be catching this stuff before it gets out in the field by now, three years into production,
but then my 4 year old Ram truck keeps getting reflashed and hauled in for recalls so
why should tractors be different. Of course, we'd like them to be stone reliable...

I'm headed there tomorrow morning to sit in the seat while they adjust the camera system to my liking.
Their first attempt was most unsuccessful. Now they are mounting it where it belongs, but still issues of angling monitor.
been raining all day, no rush to get it back home, fields are mud.

Now if I were a teenager....I'd see those muddy fields, and go get the 4707 with those big tires and throw her in 4wd and pull
a disc through the mud. And I really think those tires would do it. Whether I stalled the tractor is another thing. If I hear an engine under load pull down I immediately get off the gas. Rarely happens, Kubotas have anti-stall electronics, others likely do.
But when one really wants to get a little mud on the tires...:dance1:

and then all the powerwashing to clean it up....

++ might be regional, very humid here, might not happen in Arizona

Changing out tires are a costly venture on tractors to say the least. I am too old to do it anymore but did when younger. The last rear set I put on my old 4610 was purchased off Ebay and installed by a local guy that has been doing this type of work for over 30 years. I saved a lot of coin but I still yet need to dispose of the old ones. Don't see how you will come out for a reasonable cost getting new ones.

I surely do agree with you, thanks

I’ve noticed with my 4707 that sometimes it will act like it slips or misses a gear going forward with a bang. (I have 6? Hrs on it, had 2 when it arrived. I love it.
I was backing up a slight grade and it seemed to do it a little more. Anyone have an idea on this? It’s been so wet in nc I haven’t run it but so much.. IMG_1931.JPG

Here is a pic the first night using it. I prefer the forks now though with the round bale. The 3pt doesn’t go down quite as much as our older dk40.

While going thrui the Farm Show this week they had a couple of Massey displays,
nice looking tractors.
What disappointed me was so many of them you could not have chained the rears up,
there was not enough fender clearance to the outside of the tires.
Many of them there was only an inch or two especially in the front of the rear tires.
I know when I was looking for my last tractor chain clearance was one of the points I had a go no-go
if it couldn't run chains it got dropped off my list.
Our NH6050 and Puma 125 we can't put chains on the fuel tank side of the rears so at best they are a 3 chain tractor.
A person would have to go too a shorter tire on many tractors to have adequate chain clearance.

How much clearance do you like/need for chains? That’s not something around me which is an issue. I had them switch the 34s to the 30s, and there is more clearance. We don’t get much snow around here, I’m assuming that’s why you want/need the clearance.

I wonder if tractor companies have suggestion email boxes..

I like 3" or more and figure 2" as a bear minimum.
Yes it's for snow and ice. A great many tractors would need to have the tires downsized.
From the compacts to the large ones.

The 4707 comes with 30 inch tires instead of the 34 inch. No clearance issue.
