I'm trying to get prepped for a couple of mods for my 48" rotary cutter when I visit East TN in about 3 weeks. Yesterday, I fabbed up a deflector for the back of it, using a piece of 1.5" angle iron and bolting on two thicknesses of an antique flat PTO belt.
I also scrounged up a piece of solid rubber roller that's about 2" in diameter with about a 7/16" hole in the middle. I'm considering cutting two slices of this rubber roller for use as "soft bumpers" for the rotary cutter blades. But, I'd like to know what size bolts people are using in the two extra holes in the stump jumper to mount these "bumpers."
I know MR had posted a topic with pictures long ago about rebuilding his stump jumper, where he installed longer bolts with nuts on them to function as stops, but I can't find that post.
Can anyone tell me what size bolts I'd need, and an estimate on how thick these "bumpers" should be?
Thanks in advance!
