No local Dealers anymore... worth a call because I'm guessing freight won't be cheap... thing is the big Kubota Distribution Center is closer to me than any Dealer... no will call though... tried to do it with a tire/rim set.

I miss the days of being able to run by the depot and pick something up if I was in a bind.

Sometimes it is just better to go ahead and do what you want to do, without broadcasting it to the world.
This might be one of those situations.
I cann,t believe some folks get so worked up about what other people are doing.
If it doesn,t affect posters personally, what is the problem ? Wowser !!!!
Sometimes it is just better to read, than write. LOL

I don't regret at all having created this thread. The discussion gave me and others reason to think further about safety as it relates to the ROPS and seat belts. However the ROPS mod was really secondary to my thoughts when creating the post, as can be seen, my title didn't even mention the ROPS, but it became by far the most discussed aspect of the work done on this overall project by Paul (4shorts). All good as far as I am concerned.

Here's a few clips from the video we took a few hours after we got the BX back from Paul. Have a few computer issues so video quality not up to standards :)

Just finished getting a better quality and longer video done from the same set of footage. Here's the Youtube link:

Cool. We're on the same page on this topic. As for lawyers. Do you know how to tell when a lawyer is lying to you? When his or her lips are moving

...and what's the difference between a dead lawyer and dead skunk in the middle of the road?

Answer...there are skid marks in front of the skunk. :)

I shortened my ROPS and I'm not what you would call a welder, but it suits my needs. Maybe I should take the ROPS off because I never wear my seat belt, there, now i'm a target, bring on the flame thrower , arrows, knives, whatever. Have at er.

Im almost curious enough to tie the tractor off to a tree and jack one side up to see where the tipping point actually is. I do vehicle recoveries and its really surprising how hard it is to rollover a car. I've even started pulling cars out of steep ditches and the customer goes nuts thinking the car is about to roll when I already know it nowhere close to its tipping point.

If anybody has an older Kubota without a ROPS, Kubota Corp is still running a safety program, selling ROPS at (I believe) less than cost.
Several months ago, I ordered one for my ancient (Mid 70's) B5100, extremely well made for $140 US.
The shipping was steep, $90...
Still, heck of a deal, and It came with all the hardware AND seat belts!

Sorry, I got side tracked with all the comments there as well. I am a big fan of Paul's work. Thanks for posting the results.

I'm not going to read the "what if" debates about the ROPS mod.

The work looks integrally impeccable. The redneck engineer in me also says that it it is a bit safer now. Shorter = less leverage to allow failure in the unfortunate event of a roll over.

An added benefit, though minuscule, the CG is lower now to.

That depends. Shorter would also make it slightly easier for the tractor to keep rolling (not just stop on its side) which would be less safe.
Either way, its the OP's tractor and he likes how it came out. I would highly recommend that he replace the modified ROPS with a stock one before selling the tractor if he does that down the road, but thats just me.
