I need to reiterate that the ROPS mod was done for my own safety... it really is a no brainer in view of the way I was using the ROPS prior to the mod (partially folded and not secured). Another observation related to this thread is the use of the tractor seatbelt - as someone pointed out earlier, the seatbelt should be used at all times when the ROPS is up and in use. Well with my tractor the seat belt is very uncomfortable especially when reaching/looking back to operate the stabilizer controls (for example). In fact the belt is so uncomfortable that you are definitely inclined to say to heck with the seat belt and rely on gripping the ROPS in the event of a tip. (When connected the seat belt does not "give" at all even for slow movements that require a bit more length.) Perhaps a mod of the seat belt system is in order.
No rops = no seat belt. Rops up = seat belt on.
If you aren't wearing a belt and you begin to roll.... U gotta bail. Get away from tractor. If you have rops up and belted in... Hold steering wheel and go for the ride.
