I read and seen 4shorts projects for some time now and I would say whatever work he does is well thought out and correctly engineered. He is way ahead of the curve and does impeccable workmanship.

I'm surprised he cut the ROPS.

He shortened the rops at the bracket pivot...

The ROPS was cut when it was built, right? And as noted, 4shorts shortened at the bracket pivot so there was no effective "cut".

The ROPS belongs to him now.

Unless he financed the tractor they changed hands at the time of purchase... right?

He changed the geometry of the ROPS, its his now. Good or bad.

I'm not really interested in getting into a debate but I am of the same opinion as sixdogs. Back in the 1970's we purchased two Ford 5000's new, (at different times) and they each had different height ROPS. As far as changing the geometry when altering the length of ROPS that would probably also occur when changing wheel size (diameter) or wheelbase. Terry

The height of a ROPS is not arbitrary. It was determined after extensive testing.

Changing the height of a ROPS can conceivably be the difference in the tractor rolling all the way down a hill, vs. just rolling onto it's side, or back.
