4WD or 2WD?

Hey, I resemble that remark. No way I'd trust my life to one of those jam-o-matics. I prefer accuracy to the spray and pray method of shooting.

Bird I new you were going to say that! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It aint "spray and pray"... I prefer the term supression fire. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

And yes, I'll take my 6 shot wheel gun, 357. It may not shoot as many, but if I hit them about anywhere with it, it will most likely stop them. Haven't heard of any 357 autos. But like Bird said mine won't jam either.

You could get the model 226 Sig Sauer in 357 sig or one of the other 357 "automags" that various manufacturers make.

You'd be one bad 2wd tractoring dude then! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I do agree that the chances of a malfunction increase with the autos, on the other hand the chances of needing to reload during a gunfight increases with the revolver. So maybe it's a trade off. I don't think either scenario is likely for MOST people so I wouldn't base my decision on just those factors. I think it's whatever you are comfortable with. After all if you aren't confident with the weapon it's pretty useless.

I have 3 revolvers and 3 autos and I don't plan on getting rid of any of them.

Those Wheel Guns hold an amazing number of shells. One movie I watched The Duke had at least 10 shots without reloading.

My big ol 2WD drive International with loaded or unloaded R1's, rear end locked in will still drag the tires down the hill. I suspect even with PruntyC driving it they would do it. My 4WD, sticks to the hill like glue. I so much prefer 4WD and would easily challenge PruntyC to a pull. I'll only load my front bucket halfway. Prunty, you can fill yours up /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.
If you need a another 2WD, my International 454D is available.

By the time I shipped it to MS, the cost would be pretty high. Besides you think so much of your 4 wheel drive, you need it to remind you, just how good your 4 wheel drive is for you. Like I have said, for my use with the little land I have and its only hobby farming, not a business, its all I want or need. And I hope you are right lawman, that the Gov. don't take our guns away from us, as they have talked like they would like to do at times. I think I could probabay hide one or two well enough for them to not find them all. lol And Egon is right, I think I have seen some of the old movies, where they never did have to reload, and really shot a lot. I guess they made guns better in the old days. The ones I have you have to reload. And I do have a couple of autos. Just not one shot stoppers, like a 357.

"Darn, you fellas are a day too late I got burglarized last night and wouldn't ya' know it they took a few of my guns" "Can you guys take a report I'm gonna need one for my insurance company"/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've gotten my m-11 9mm down to 3 shot bursts pretty reasonably... that is about 10 'shots' on the stock 32 round zytel/steel stick mags. But hey.. if ya don't like auto.. there is a selector switch! The only time I got it to jam was using a lead re-load... which I have never done again. The H&R model 50 I've got is nice too.. but only takes 20rnd sticks in .45auto, and I can only get it down to about 4-5 shots per trigger pull... nice weapon though..

If I had to do it one shot at a time my choice would be my AMT automag V .50AE.. only holds 5 + 1 rounds.. but then again.. like someone pointed out.. 1 hit.. 1 take down.. almost no matter where ya hit them.

When I was taking a hanfgun class to get my license, the instructor brought out a couple silouette targets that had 'kill' zones marked out, for differens calibers. I'e. a 45 hitting you here has a better chance of killing you than a 9m for example. I think it was refering to compressive/concussive shock damage to sourounding tissues... the .45 looked to be about 3 inches if I remember correctly. Them you looked at the overlay for the .50ae.. and there weren't to many non-lethal zones. .. somehting like hands and feet... except that if ya got hi in those areas.. it would remove the limb there.. and there was a good chance to bleed out.. etc.

.44 and .454 casul were right close in that range too.

There are just some things that either a 2wd or a 4wd will do better. If I was haying, and had the choice of a 50hp 4wd 4-5000lbs tractor.. or say a dinosaur like a ford 8000 2wd, dual rears... I'll take that 9000 lbs ford. The extra weight.. not so much the extra 55 hp, makes the difference in this case.

Everybody has their favorites.. this thread could go on forever.. the only thing we havn't heard about is hydro-vs gearvs shuttle/reverser - 2wd-4wd.. 3wd, etc....

now there is a discussion in the making....

I know what you're thinking. Did he fire six shots or only five? To tell you the truth, in all this excitment, I kind of lost track myself. The question you should be asking is "Do I feel Lucky?" Well do ya' punk? /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

That said, I agree with the 4wd people. I got stuck brush-hogging when my rear wheels fell into a ditch. Put her into 4 wheel and out I came. If you can afford it, why not?

The few times that I was stuck, the diff. lock, brought me right out. I use it maybe 4 or 5 times a year. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
