Jeff,
It's not my truck it's Neils. Yea the oil is more that much is true. But I don't know what else. Also you can extend those changes out a little more to. I've done analysis on my old truck and the oil was still great at 3k. I've started doing mine at 4500 now unless I'm doing alot of heavy towing.

Most of our turbo diesels here are oil changed every 5000km religiously.

Especially mine. The 2.8L has an aftermarket turbo and has small oil galleries, and to leave it go any longer is real bad so I am told.

Anyway after spending $6000 on a rebuild, I am looking after this little baby !!!

The turbo is an ARB which is a brand of 4x4 equipment we make/sell here. I think it is now exported. - Heard of it?

Just got fuel yesterday....here in South Carolina I pay $1.29 for diesel. The same station had regular no lead for .97 cents a gallon. Surprisingly, prices can vary widely from state to state depending on the taxes each state adds on. I never buy gas in North Carolina which is just minutes away because it is ALWAYS more expensive.

Neil,

Filled up with regular unleaded at .98 per gal. today, cheapest we have seen around here in several years.

Neil,
What oil do you use? Some of the oils don't have the soot control which is really bad on the diesels. I use the Rotella and they have a soot control formula in it so you can extend the changes a little. Recommendations from the factory are 3000 heavy duty and 5000 miles normal duty. Right now diesel is about $1.24. Farm use the last I got was .88.

I haven't ever heard of the ARB. Before Ford came out with the powerstroke their diesel was a non-turbo. We used to put the ATS turbos on them which worked well.

Neil, like the other guys said, gasoline prices vary considerably state to state sometimes because of the difference in state taxes; however, it also varies considerably, in Texas at least, just from one town to another, but prices have been coming down lately. On 10/11/01, I paid $1.339 in the town that's 20 miles east of home, on 10/29/01, I paid $.979 in the town that's 50 miles southwest of home (two days later it was up a penny to $.989), and yesterday I paid $1.079 in the town about 30 miles north of home. Of course, those prices are per gallon, so converted to liters, I guess that would be about $.259 to $.285 per liter; not sure on the conversion from US dollars to yours though.

$1 Aus = 50c US. So your fuel is damn near 1/2 the cost of ours at 80-90c Aus per litre. No wonder all your cars are BIG ! and there are not many diesels !!

Cheers

I have heard or ARB. Around here they are mostly known for their compressed air operated locking differentials. I have never heard anyone say anything bad about an ARB product.

Hi Neil

I'm paying 97c-99c/ltr diesel and 78c-84c/ltr unleaded over here in Perth WA, I still can't understand why diesel is so much more now, when it use to so be much less ?

Regards

Chris
