5' rotary mower on a 2320 ?

Yeah some of my hills are pretty steep going up them I dont think I would have much weight on the front wheels. I will have the FEL on when brush hoging the fields, plus I have a few tractor weights I can hang on the front weight bar if needed. I can't wait to try it out. Thanks for the advice.

Can you have the FEL and weights on the front at the same time?

On a side note, the 2320 tractor is a stout little machine. I sold a 3720 and bought one for my personal use, and actually like the machine better. On my tight and steep property it will work circles around a larger machine. Really nice tractor, and reasonably priced for the package v. some of the larger machines.

Shouldnt be a problem since my dad puts an MX6 on his 3720 every summer to mow the pasture. Very nice mower.

3720 vs. 2320 - 2 different planets.

After looking at it I will have to run the FEL or the weights. I think as long as I have the FEL on I will be okay. I will find out in a couple of weeks. ( just like a kid waiting for christmas )

Run the FEL. If it is light in the front - put something in the bucket...

Hello there, I have a 2320 and run the RC1060 by Frontier with no trouble at all. I do leave the FEL on the tractor while using the rough cut mower and it seems to balance out well. We don't have many hills of any kind where we cut and it has been able to handle the long grass and big weeds in the areas we cut. If things were to get bogged down a bit while cutting I would just slow down a little but I have hit a few mounds of dirt made by a fox digging in the pasture and the mower just powered through it with no trouble.
I am very happy with the 2320 and the Frontier RC1060.

Is anybody running a 5' rotary cutter on a John Deere 2320 ? It has a FEL and I can ad more weight to the front if needed? The dealer said a Frontier 5' was probably too much weight but maybe a lighter unit would work. A 5' King Kutter or a Woods light duty mower? A am mowing around 10 acres of fields and would rather not use a 4' mower. I am mowing only grass no brush and there are not rocks in the field. Some of the field is steep but I have a pull behind 42" swisher trail mower behind my ATV for that allready. Thanks for the input.

I use a Land Pride RCR1860 (5' mower) on a Kubota B7800. The B7800 is only a couple of hundred pounds heavier than a 2320. The mower weighs 600 pounds. It's a load. I can mow without the loader on but I have to be careful about dips and hills. My land is fairly flat. As far as HP is concerned you will be OK grooming pastures that have been kept mowed. If you are mowing heavy brush and saplings I think a 5' would be a bit too much for a 2320. There is a big difference on mowing time between a 4' and 5' brush hog. I would choose the 5' and just go slow in the hard places.

I would worry about the strain your putting on the pto with a five foot cutter. One could rack up some high repair bills if you have a problem. I don't think the system was designed for this application. The size of the bearings and gears are micro compared to a utility tractor. Let us know how it works out and keep your warranty current.

This would be a concern. With a five footer you would be maxing out the tractor. But the smaller tractors these days are ruff and tuff. I replaced a MF 135 diesel with a Kubota B7800. The Massey was 1,000 pounds heavier and had 6 more engine HP. I can do more work in a day with the smaller B7800 than I could ever have done with the MF135. Don't get me wrong. The MF135 an awesome tractor. Give your tractor a try.
