50 hour fluid change

   / 50 hour fluid change #11
Thank you all for posting these experiences. I'm at 43 hrs on my NX4510. Haven't decided whether I'll do a complete fluid change at 50, but you can bet I'll be thinking about these posts when I do!

Hey buddy for what it's worth, I recall doing a full oil and filter change at 50 hours when first got my CK25 and the drain plug was magnetized, there was a lot of metal shavings attached to it and lots more in the bottom of the pan when I drained the oil out of it. I believe there was a Thread on this issue here back 10 years ago when I first joined. I know I'll be doing my NX4510 at 50 hrs. Cheers

The must have got better cause I had nothing but clean oil. So I put it back in. I would want to know where those shavings came from.

Maybe so but I got ten years out of it before I traded up without a problem and changed the oils as recommended by the engineers who write those manuals. Worked for me that's all that counts just thought I'd share, as I said "for what it's worth". Cheers

Changing the engine oil is easy. So do that. Use 5W30 for winter and 15W40 for summer.

If you can change the engine oil, then you can change the front axle fluid. A single drain in the bottom center. 80W90 GL5 rated gear oil.

If you can change the engine and gear oil, then consider the HST/hydro oil. One drain on the square mid-mounted transmission (or on the left side if you have the mid PTO installed) and two drains, one on each inboard side of the bull gear axle housing. You will want a chain wrench or be prepared to pound in a screwdriver into the big hydro filter on the righthand side. The oil filter wrench you used on engine oil filter works fine on the HST filter located behind the fuel tank on the lefthand side. Pour in about 11 gallons and start checking the level every half gallon after that.

anytime I've ever had a filter on that I can't get off with a regular filter wrench, the chain wrench has always crushed the filter making things worse. I'm glad they work for you.

I suspect that I've worked on many more machines than you have.
