Anyone know a ballpark cost? Not many (!) dealers near me and would just like to know if I'm getting value for my $$'s.

Mine was around 48$. Engine oil and filter, plus a overall check up of the tractor, like fluids, pedals adjustment and so on. It's a small dealer/shop.

This is in Portugal, so things my be a bit different over there. The 300 hours service might get a bit more expensive as it will change all the fluids I believe.

Just your parts & fluids will be >= $100. Now I am basing this on the older tractors where everything was changed at the first 50 hours. I do not know about the newer models. Hydraulic/transmission oil, engine oil, and fuel, oil and hydraulic filters, they add up. W Jones

I did my own 50 hour service.

That way I only paid for 2 filters, grease (I already had the grease.) and engine oil.

All of the checks, adjustments and cleaning was fairly easy.

My 50 hour service included the trans fluid. I'm a long ways from the dealer and did the work myself. It's not difficult. The greatest expense was the HST fluid at $170 for 10 gallons delivered. I also needed a larger oil drain pan. Branson filter prices are a little cheaper than Kubota (at least for an L4701, which is what I looked up when comparing).

Mobilfluid 424. That was for two 5 gallon pails. I could not find anything decent locally so I bought it on amazon.

NAPA had Chevron THF1000 listed on their web site for $45/5 gallon but when I called local stores they said I'd have to pay shipping, and they couldn't actually order it.

My 50 hour was $400. That was all fluids and filters changed, synthetic diesel engine oil, everything checked and greased, and they washed it inside and out. That includes picking it up and taking it in for me. They offered to deliver it too when finished, but I went and got it. The 50 hour should change every fluid and filter. Next one is 150-200 hr? and it's engine oil only I think (and regrease zerks too).

50 hrs is engine fluid/filter and drive train fluid/filter plus any chassis lube if required. If you do it yourself, might squeak by on a hundred bucks. If the dealer does it, he has to make a living and maybe eek out a tad of profit in the process.

Don't think you can buy 10 gallons of hydro for $100 let alone filters and engine oil?

Kubota synthetic UDT, $115/5 gallon @ local dealer last week. Kubota hyd filters are also expensive.Using the MX as an example, DIY 50 hr service, exceeds $400.

EDIT: Eric
Difficult to fathom a hydro not benefiting from UDT, syn.

TSC Premium is $40/5 gal. It may be suitable but I did not want to take the chance. I asked my dealer about SUDT and they said not to use it. If you're in an area with more ag equipment you may be able to find the specified Chevron THF1000 and it should be around $50/5 gal.

I replace whining TSC fluid in my 2800h. Branson HQ in GA said good to go. Now smooth as silk.

Sorry.....I meant to say I replaced the TSC with SUDT2.

My dealer locally (50 miles from here) charges $125/hr with a 2 hour minimum...I've done the changes myself.

I do all my filters and fluids as soon as winter is over and the land starts to green up regardless of hours. I buy my filters from Amazon. I used to get them at Napa, but Amazon is a lot cheaper then Napa, and Napa was cheaper then the dealer. Sometimes you can even find one cheaper on Ebay, but that's hit or miss. Just look at the number on the factory filter, and it's the same number for Wix filters anywhere else. I buy my fluids and grease at Atwoods, which is kind of like Tractor Supply, but bigger and cheaper.

Sorry I don't know what the cost is, I tend to buy all my filters at the same time for all my tractors, and do the same with fluids in bulk.

Eddie,

Messick's posted a U Tube video recently in which they disected Kubota, NAPA, Wix, filters, Wow, there was a significant difference, no trick photography!!!

In gear tractors, most PREMIUM HYD fluid is acceptable. In a hydro, I stay w/ mfg name brand, My MX hyd oil Service was almost $300 just for hyd SUDT. Excluding filters.

I use diesel synthetic crankcase oil as well but not kubota brand, yet ALL FILTERS are kubota.
