50 hour service - dealer cost?

I know nothing about Kubota parts prices, but from the $300 headlight thread I would guess that they are probably outrageous.

It is worth cross referencing the filters and getting them from NAPA, Autozone or PepBoys. Oil is oil, not worth getting brand name loyal about.

Minor tools, but if you change the the transmission at 50 hours it will probably let out about 10 gallons and that is more than most car owners have a drain pan for.
The easy cheapie drain pan is a mortar tub from Home Despot or Lowes, at least as sturdy as an over priced authentic truck drain pan from a dealership and you have room for it under a compact tractor.

I can't see a figure anywhere NEAR the $200 that others have cited.

Other than that; grease gun.

Had my 7800 50 hr done last spring. Dealer drove to my house (60 miles) to pickup and dropped it back off when it was finished. He also sharpened the blades on my MMM. Total price $385.
Last spring gas around here was $3.50 a gal! I felt like I got a good deal.

I just did my 50hr service myself. I purchased the Engine Oil (Kubota 1gal 10W30), Kubota Filter, SUDT Kubota Hydraulic Fluid (3 gal + 1 qt) and Kubota Hydraulic Transmission filter for $137.25.

Took less than 2 hrs to do it myself.

I didn't even get a quote from the dealer. So I can't help you there.

Hi: I have a bx-23 about same as your bx-24 found on e-bay a place selling kubota filters got 3 complete filter changes (air oil tran 2xfuel) for about $110 shipping About 68 bucks for 2.5 Gal SUDT(ouch) from local dealer and $16 syn oil from wally world. Did the whole mess in alittle over an hour and was not hurrying. Best to clean your tran strainer to get the metal frags out even thou think more like the 100-300 time in book. Tran is drained anyway! Thin oil filter pliers or fluted cap wrenchs for filters and a little grease, tighited any loose bolts/nuts/lugs and tire pressure and you are good 2 go. Messicks has tutorial with pics somewhere on this site.

Sorry thought you had the 24 but still same principal

Some dealers must "play" with their prices for parts. I had a B7100DT for about 15years and I was always amazed that the local dealer had the filters and parts for less than I could get them at NAPA or other auto parts stores.

Now as for the price for a 50 hour service on the new B3200, I am not sure as I currently have less than 10 hours on it -- but they have been a SWEET 10 hours!

Don't forget for the "extra" charge you get a qualified tractor mechanic ( hopefully ) to look over the entire tractor, torquing bolts going over thing the manufacturer has the dealer inspect at that critical 50 Hr, mark etc.

If I really want to save money I bring in all my fluids and filters that I can buy on the net and take all that in to the dealer and they just charge me labor. Even my diesel trucks, I take in all the stuff and hand it to the Ford dealer and they charge me $15.00 labor.

How they figure the price, the regular rate is $29.00 for an oil change, they deduct the oil and filter from that price ( because I'm bringing it in ) and the remainder is labor $15.00. I've done this with Ford, GM, Mercedes etc, they all accept my oil and filters. Mostly because I use oil that they can not get so they agree.

Yes we all can do thing cheaper, and if the price is reasonable I always have the dealer touch my equipment. I can't tell you how many time by me NOT touching my equipment including all me vehicles, has saved me. When things go sideways on any warranties I always toss my hands uo and say "sorry I NEVER touched it - YOU were the only ones to touch it". All the finger pointing STOPS, and they always take care of the problem. Also is a dealer sees you more than once they get to know you as a true customer and tends to cut you breaks.

I went through a buy back on a piece of equipment and in dealing with the three lawyers over the buy back, they admitted that's why they lost the case because I never touched it, and the dealer was the only one to blame.

Another time there was an $800.00 dispute on a vehicle and the dealer wouldn't cover it, I contacted the manufacturer and they covered it because I had all the records that that dealer was the only one that touched it and should have caught the problem before it got bad.

So for me, it's not worth saving $50.00 or $100.00 for the added insurance.

Just my .02 cents.

When my 50-hour service on my L2800 came up the dealer said, "Bring it in at about 80 hours and we'll do the 50 and 100 hours at the same time." Hmmm. . . Price quoted was about 550 bucks and about 150 for pickup. Total was in excess of 700 dollars!!

I did it myself--it's basically just fluid and filter changes and a clutch linkage adjustment that my wife could do. Saved a bundle; total cost was less than 300 even with the outrageously expensive Kubota Super UDT and filters.

I am no mechanic. If I can do it, anybody can do it.

Cat_Driver,

That is good if the mechanic is a conscientious mechanic. If he gets paid by the job, time is money and he will only do what is "required". My brother worked at a Dodge dealer and they had a mechanic that would not do Recall work if there was no symptoms. He would throw the parts in his locker and get paid for doing nothing. If the symptoms did show up, the customer would come back and the dealer would order the parts (that were in the locker" THEN install them. The dealer found all the parts when the mechanic quit and left them in the locker.

Also, doing it yourself helps you learn your equipment

If I really want to save money I bring in all my fluids and filters that I can buy on the net and take all that in to the dealer and they just charge me labor. Even my diesel trucks, I take in all the stuff and hand it to the Ford dealer and they charge me $15.00 labor.

I also had a Harley that I needed some work done by an Indy and I figured he could put on a couple of parts while it was there and he was working in the same area. He told me two things, one he would not put the parts on because "You wouldn't bring a steak to a restaurant and ask them to cook it" and second since he did not get the parts from his source, they would not be warranted. But that could just be the people I have dealt with.

But, to each his own. If you are happy doing that, more power to you!!

Yeah,if you're worried about spending money to get 50 hour service done, why ask how much, you know its going to be alot more to get dealer to do it than do it your self, and anybody should be able to do the 50 hour service themselfs, you don't got to be a mechanic to do this.

Simple matter of common sense and following manual.

I am somewhat handy with a wrench and did my own 50 hour and 100 hour services. It's expensive to buy all the fluids/filters as it is. I would hate to pay someone 60 - 90 dollars per hour to drain fluids and check adjustments.
