50 Hours On My L2800

My dealer is stating that it will take 2 weeks to get my service done. I do not have 2 weeks to wait. I would like to know if doing it yourself is feasible. I am concerned about disposal of the old fluid and if I should buy the super UDT and filters from my dealer or is there a cheaper way to go??

My box blade is jerky on the way up, my steering locks up under a heavy load and the FEL comes down super fast.

Doing your 50 hour service is fairly easy if you have any mechanical ability at all. I would suggest using Kubota filters (Make sure you don't mix them up, it does happen). I don't know if SUDT is needed in our climate. If some other posters are to be believed, one might as well run sandy water in their tractor instead of regular UDT. I have had no problems with Kubota UDT. Total cost for my 50 hour service was under $80 and it took me less than 3 hours.

As to your other problems, it sounds like you might have your throttle set a little high for your experience/comfort level. I often run my b2910 at 1900 rpm for loader work(rated pto spead is 2600 rpm, I think). The slower fluid flow lets one feather the loader controls better as well as the three point hitch, which would address your box blade issue. I'm not sure about your steering issue.

The shift linkage (range selector) on my tractor sometimes won't shift without bumping the tractor forward a little to line up the gears better. No synchronization, I guess.

The "jerky" 3-point valve on the L2800 and L3400 has been changed. They are now using the valve from GL10 series tractor, P/N 31351-39604. This is a dealer replacement, no cost to owner. L2800DT/HST serial number 57745 and up have new valve.

You can dispose of the old oil and filters where you buy the new. Walmart, Autozone, and O'Reillys will all take the used oil. If you have the time and equipment needed, it's better to do it yourself to learn more about you machine. If there is some warranty issue, the dealer needs to be involved.

Re: use of UDT or Super UDT. Like you I have a new L2800. The service manager and also the owner of my dealership, both, strongly recommend Super UDT in these tractors. Not sure of the cost difference but we have invested a lot of money in these tractors and I think if you used Super UDT from the beginning you could eliminate any questions about the maintenance of your L2800. Just my opinion

I talked to the dealer mechanic today and he said to use what ever I wanted. He recommended Rottella for the engine and any good quality hydraulic fluid for the transmission. He also said to use Kubota filters unless I could cross reference. What do you guys think????? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I did mine in pieces: 1) engine oil, 2) front gear oil, 3) hydraulic oil. This way, you'll be less likely to run out of disposal oil space, provided you take used oil to recyclers as you fill up the containers. My 4010 hydraulic oil fit fine into a normal 13 qt automotive drain container.

The 4010 required removal of a rear wheel to get the cap off the hydraulic filter. Even this wasn't too much trouble.
