5075E blowing start fuse when turning key

/ 5075E blowing start fuse when turning key #31
Thank you for an excellent post - I will add my 5105 to the list where this was the problem. Was working fine after a 600 hour maintenance. Went to start in the woods and nothing. No idea except I figured out when I tried to crank it the Key Switch fuse would blow. Just got back from getting a new thermistor sensor and hope to get it installed in the next day or two. Thanks again for the assist!
Is yours easy to get at? I have a somewhat newer 5045D, same basic 3-cyl but has a turbo, for Tier 4, I guess. Lot of stuff in the way, injector lines, fan belt shroud, but I'll have to give it a go.

I don't even think it's a thermistor, just a thermostatic switch that opens/closes at certain temp. I think I'll clip the plug off the bad one in the engine, attach it to the mating plug going to the pump and short the two wires together and see if it starts better/easier.

Does it advance or ****** the pump timing when cold? Will it crank easier when working correctly or does it just reduce the smoking and roughness?
