... They were called night blaster, stock number 702 (35W) and 701 (50W).

I got lucky and found a pair of the #701 50W Night Blasters at Advanced Auto Parts during my lunch break. Will plug them in tonight and see how it goes. Thanks for the lead...

I popped open my 4300 last night and found that it uses a completely different type of bulb. These ones being discussed here with the bayonet bases (I think that's what they're called) won't fit... at least on the 4300. /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif

It was necessary for me to spend the night in the city yesterday/w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif so I stopped at Advantage Auto. They did not have the numbers matching the 50w posted here. They had the 100w and a 55w of another brand not mentioned in any posts but similar in appearance to the picture here. I hadn't had time to remove mine to see what the connedtion looks like so I did not purchase them. By the way, they are $5.99 each!

That would be the bulb picture John Miller III posted. I didn't have time to embellish further, the bride was firmly stating that dinner was on the table. Since I spent the previous day and night in the city/w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif and I wanted to get my picture posted in the picture forum (that I never got to until this AM), I obeyed. Besides ham loaf and scalloped potatoes don't eat real well on your head/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif.

I didn't understand that picture, as it had wires leading out of it, instead of simply plugging in like the ones in my JD4300.

I am not sure myself, but the ones I looked at in the store had the wires hanging from them. The price was the surprize/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif I will get to the Kubota today and take a look, hopefully it is a simple job/w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif to access them. But that is what makes life worth living, looking at the 2910 or spending time in the bildge babying my engines/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

If you have a 2910 then the bulbs will twist out like a regular car bulb. The H3 halogens will not fit unless you change the socket base. It took about 1 minute to install these bulbs in my 2710, and excess heat has not been a problem so far.....

Was that surprise, as in too high, or surprise as in too low? I've found the prices of lamps/bulbs/lights too vary all over the map. I know that some of has to do with where they're manufactured, and maybe to larger extent the volume of manufacture, but the range is quite impressive. I've seen really decent lights (whole assemblies) selling for $10 - $15, and crappy ones in the $30 - $50 range. Other good/crappy models above and below those prices. As for bulbs/lamps, they wander around too.

I believe the ones in mine are plain 1073 23w parking lamp bulbs, just pulled one out and looked. Quite surprised/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif! Now I suppose I have to search around for a socket base and bulb setup. Did you change the whole thing, which requires cutting the wires Jason? Not a big deal, just may want to add an additional set while into the wiring.

NO !! The replacement bulbs that I am talking about are the exact same size and base, just in a 50W version. I just removed the old and installed the new in the old base. The ones that John is talking about will require a new socket and a wiring splice. Mine are the Pro Series from Auto Zone. They are Optronics brand, stock number A-701. They are a direct replacement and will fit in the old bulb base.

Just a thought. A guy where I used to work thought it was a "bright idea" to put those blue lights in one of the trucks. He was right until they let the smoke out of the wires. Changed the pigtails on the wires put the old lights back in no more problem.

Just my $0.02 worth but the manufacturers pay the engineers alot of money to design tractors, cars,etc. They usually know best.

How bright do tractor lights have to be anyway?
