Mowing 54 or 60 inch mmm

This whole thing is personal preference. I like my 54", others like their 60's...In the bigger scheme of things, does it really matter?

I cut 3 acres at my mom's house with a 48" JD GT275. No issue there at all.

Actually, Im not so sure that it is. You have to try something both ways 1st to develop a preference. From the description you wrote it suggests you just chose on the cautious side and are happy with results, but have no direct comparison on which to base a preference. Perhaps I didnt read your post correctly.
