Any idea of the cause? It sounds like the machined surfaces were within spec? Plastigauge showed the same I assume? Broken bolt or under torqued bolt? Plugged oil passage?

I’m just curious (like my last post..haha) and am glad you got it all going again!!

Yes - this OP is ONE COOL DUDE. Just reading thru this entire post makes my guts tie up in knots. I would say he has a couple mechanics that he owes an awful lot to.................. It is so gratifying to hear that its been identified and resolved and for south of $1K.

Likely simple lack of oil pressure. We have no idea of the actual run-time once the filter was punctured.

Exactly. I wasn't on the tractor, but it was a crazy hot day and the machine had been working hard for a couple hours. Our theory is the tractor was shut down just before it actually seized in earnest. The built up heat and expansion did its work pdq after the shut down. There was at least half the oil left in it after the puncture, but the bearing that seized was furthest from the oil pump, so first to suffer. She's had about 20 hours of semi hard running since the repair and so far so good. She even ran during our super cold 12 degree weather hauling hay and protein tubs across the farm.

Neither mechanic had ever worked on a Mahindra, but both remarked at how well made mine seems to be...she sure took a lickin' and keeps on tickin'

The Mahindra units built in India are designed to work hard in the Indian environment that varies for the Tropic to the Arid, and everything in between.
