580C vs 680H

   / 580C vs 680H #11
I know guys that have had 580B's, C's, E's, and K's. All very good reliable machines.
There's a big construction company near me that has a couple of 680's. Those things are 25+ years old and still going strong. They don't use them every day but when they use them, they use them hard.
You shouldn't have any trouble finding a good 580C in the $8-10K range. A K will be substantially more.

Spent a lot of years on 580G 4x4's with the case/david brown engine and not as good as other cases . Engine was underpowered and notoriously prone to breaking crankshafts,Torque converters were weak with a lot of highway travelling and cabs were very prone to rusting ,I'd go a bit newer if you can.I still have a 580b on the farm and thats been excellent though.

I had a 580 superE 4x4 for about 7 years.
It never let me down, I used it to clear my land and build my house.
As far as working on it (repairs) nothing that a pipe wrench and large socket set could not handle.
Bought for 7500 in 99, sold for 10K in 2008.
