Lloyd, you sure have something to be proud of and enjoy. I know that it's been a lot of work, but I can tell you are really enjoying that cabin and land. The sun sure paints the trees with a beautiful orange "brush." I hope you and your brother get a lot of use out of that cabin.:thumbsup:

Wow! I just saw this thread and I have to say I have cabin envy. Not only do you have an AMAZING place with roots and memories you have a great looking cabin. I am dying to build one but the budget has not allowed for it yet....

Thanks all. jimmyj - it's cheaper than you think! We recycled a lot of stuff and shopped around for materials. My guess is another $500 and we will be finished inside and out. I am ripping the remaining T&G for battens and trim. Trim and moldings I make in my shop. I don't have any extra cash but I do have lots of time...

My very good friend just bought a band saw mill so we will be milling rough 3/4"x 12" pine for the interior - I will plane them down to 5/8 - good one side and router a v-grove and ship lap joint on them. We need 14 12 footers and 14 12&6 footers - mixture to complete. We will saw and air dry over the next few months. If I get my green house built within the next month we will probably stack them in there to dry faster. Logs are from both our properties... to quote him "the best thing to owning a tractor is having a friend who owns one!"

A few pics of the cabin over the last 6 months...

Still need to find or make two more windows. The chicken was from last thanksgiving. We hooked up a rotisserie to the converter via the truck.

That is my idea of a proper barbecue. All you need now is one of the weight turned spits like there are in Louisburg.

Or even an outdoor kitchen with roof and fireplace stove.
